NiCd still used in cordless drills Batterys

I have had two 12v DeWalt re-celled at primecell.com with good results. I also use a 14v pack with my 12v drill. I had to modify the drill to take the slightly diferent shape of the 14v pack.

Build your own CD battery tab welder for $100

Also look for low inductance caps. Those are mostly used for photoflash apps. If you can't get low inductance, you can use a bunch of smaller caps. and wire them up in paralell. But you need to have all of the wires from each side of the caps. go to one common point. (one for pos. and one for...

I just bought a battery pack welder

You would need to use low inductance caps. for that use. Normal caps. won't be able to dump all their power quickly enough for welding. Search the surplus market for "photo flash" caps.

AA/AAA charger recommendation for car installation

I just got the duracell 15 minute cahrger at Costco for about $32.00. Comes with a lighter plug, and is a four chanel charger. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has only one LED to show when it is done.

    Battery's "Third Rail"?

It goes to a tempature sensor. When the cells get to full charge, they get hot. That triggers the charger to shut down.

    Batteries, LEDs, NiMh, and V=IR

You are asking a bigger question than you think. You might want to search this forum, as it has been hashed out many times. Anyway, I take it you have a basic grasp of how V=I*R works. It also works when you change it around. E/R=I, E/I=R Now lets take a simple circuit consisting of a CELL...

Need recommendations for cheap SLA 6v smart charger

I recomend the "battery companion" By Schumacher. Your can get it at Wal mart for less than $20. Model number WM-1562A. It's by all the car batteries. It does 12V and 6V SLAs at 1.5amps.

    Lead-Acid/Gel Batteries Care and Feeding

I like to use the multi-stage chargers you can get a Wall-Mart. They charge quickly, and can be left connected with out damage. Cost about $20. for the smallest one. (1.5A)

    My first MOSFET , Questions.

Your circiut diagrams look OK. Everything should work. You can make a "latching" switch by using a capacitor to keep a charge on the gate. Add a resistor to bleed off the charge, and you have a timed shut down. But the shut down will be gradual, as the voltage dropps. You can use a P...

    My first MOSFET , Questions.

The reason it seems to latch it the the gate requires no current, just voltage. If you breifly connect the gate to a signal then disconnect it, it will still have the small charge that got when connected. If you then connect the gate to ground, it will turn off. In your circut you should keep...

AA NiMH vs. Lithium in Digital Camera

I have the canon A80 and I use NiMH cells. I can fill a 512Mb memory card at least twice before I need to recharge the cells. That's over 2,000 pics. If I can get to a computor to dump the memory, I can get to a car or an outlet to recharge. If you get one of the one hour, or 15 min...

    Making "matched" battery packs

Re: Making \"matched\" battery packs [ QUOTE ] Gadget_Guru said: Howdy all, I have a bunch of Ni-Cd Sub-C cells from some faulty Dewalt and Black & Decker cordless drill packs. Often, one or more cells in the packs will die an early death, leaving the pack less than fully useful. So, I...

12v Boost Jumper powers 9.6v Ryobi Drill

[ QUOTE ] MrAl said: Hi Lynx, Oh yes, good point. I have a small two-tube fluor lantern too, which would really benefit from having a 6v SLA rather than four 'D' cells, which i dont like to keep around because that's about the only thing i use them for. I might be able to retro fit it to a...
