OK, Rebel or Cree Fenix LOD???

I might have gone with an LF2 if I hadn't seen beamshots of the LOD-CE, which are misleading. They don't show the numerous faint rings off to the side. Hot spot is pretty smooth (not perfect), and what I'll call the corona is pretty smoth also. But then come the rings of saturn. I would like a...

L0D CE owners: Can you see it flicker?

I notice it, especially on low and when there's relative motion between the beam and nearby landscape, such as when indoors. It doesn't bother me, and I wouldn't be put off from purchasing this light because of it. It's an excellent keychain light.

Going camping - Princeton Tec Apex or Fenix 2LD-CE

Good advice!!! I always pack two headlamps. In the outdoors, a headlamp is the most fundamental lighting tool, not a flashlight. You can also have one headlamp that has more throw than the other, rather than have an extra for use only as a spare. You can also use a headlamp (that doesn't have a...

Where to get cree and SSC in colors?

I want to mod a PT EOS with an SSC star in amber, and might try other things. I can't find anyone selling these in colors. Can anyone point me to a dealer?

Beamshots: Ultrafire C2, Lumapower M1 w/ lens, Seoul Maglite

Thanks again. These are very useful pics. I'm interested in something like your M1 for 2 reasons. On foot, I usually have another light source for flood (such as a headlamp or pocket light), but still need to occasionally throw a long range spot, and need only that. Also, while driving, I like...

Has anybody ever hacked a LIR2032 cell in a Photon?

Yes, the output varies less in time, with initial brightness in the whites and cyan (on 2016s) not being as high. Sorry, no runtime graphs, just been my experience.

Thanks. Looking forward to the long range photo. Lux

Beamshots: Ultrafire C2, Lumapower M1 w/ lens, Seoul Maglite

Wow, the M1 looks like it's kicking the m@glite's butt! Some questions: 1) Do the relative brightnesses of the hotspots appear as they do in the outdoor pics? I'm wondering if the lack of spill in the M1, and hence the greater contrast with the foreground, could be exaggerating the intensity...

Has anybody ever hacked a LIR2032 cell in a Photon?

You know, you can use rechargeable LiIon 2032 batteries. I have 4 photon freedoms that I run that way. That includes white, cyan, red, and yellow. They all work just fine. Runtime is not very good, however, and unless you really need fine dimming control for nightvision, I would look at other...

    Longbow problems

I replaced my LB lanyards with spectra cord, etc. in a Berkeley Point group buy we had a while back. Blows them away for strength, yet much lighter. Too bad I tossed my LB lanyards out, or I'd give 'em to you.

    Some Photon Freedom questions ...

I've never heard of the 50% power mode until your post. I just tried it on the freedoms I bought a year ago, and it works on all of them. Cool!

nobody have Longbow stuff in stock???

Thanks for the information. I'm always looking to enhance my micras. They're so darn modular, you can do almost anything with them. You guys will like the booster head. I use one for longer range spotting on a micra with twisty, and it isn't too short to grip (you just grip the whole light...

nobody have Longbow stuff in stock???

[ QUOTE ] H_Alpha said:...1/4" camera lanyards can be found online or at most camera stores... [/ QUOTE ] I assume you mean a lanyard with a 1/4" camera type thread like that on the Micra. I've had some problems finding these. If you can dig up a link, I'd appreciate it. Welcome to CPF, by...

Favorite Camping Lamp and Mosquitoes Question

Use the longer wavelength colors. Yellow is good because it gives decent color rendition. I tried a flourescent lantern once, and it was bug city. I think that's because flourescents use UV with a phosphor coating, and evidently some UV leaks out. Atleast that's my theory, although I'm not sure...

anyone WEAR their Freedom in weird places??

I wear 2 on my keychain, and I put another 2 on an old BD headlamp strap. Now I have a small and light dimmable headlamp, but I'm not sure if that's weird or not.

Beamshot TD10 with rechargable lithium 3-pack

Don't Pila 150s have undervoltage protection? That would solve that problem. In your case, you could just use JSB R123s which have that protection.

Do 2032 white LED keychain lights exist?

vcal, I asked Adam (slavin4U.com) a few months ago if he would sell the LiIon 2032s again. He said he would, but it would be a couple months. Nothing's appeared on his website yet, though. I really do want to get my hands on some of those (atleast 20). As far as 2032 primaries are concerned...

    Amber Luxeons

It sounds like you're after full spectrum light. Unfortunately, white LEDs don't produce that. I have a TV1J, though, that does pretty well in the woods (where things lean towards brown). I wouldn't waste your time on the pure colors, but you might try a warm white (at the expense of some...

    Amber Luxeons

An amber luxeon is essentially yellow. It is MUCH more yellow than an incandescent. It's also not full spectrum. I've tried warm white luxeons, and they do match incandescent color temperatures fairly well, but definitely lean towards the low end of the color temperature scale. As far as...
