Was hoping someone could answer some questions I have about LED Christmas Lights.

If blue and white are different like that, it probably has to do with them being made with the newer GaN technology. White is really a blue doped with phosphor. The newer "pure green" (525nm) is also made with the GaN. While blue and green are freely mixed with the other colors, one is hard...

What technology will replace LED's as most efficient light source

Isn't plasma older technology that generates a lot of heat? It does seem OLED is being built up as the next thing after LED, for lighting (in addition to signage).

Incan Bulbs Banned in 4 Yrs. Stock Up Now !!

The best LED bulbs to come out recently are the Ecosmart A19 series I discovered at Home Depot last month. http://tinyurl.com/cn4cq9q It has the typical heat sink base, but the actual "bulb" (made of thick translucent white plastic is shaped like a flattened version of the A19 bulb. They come in...

    Response-Box RGB LED Nodes

I've finally found a fully controllable LED string, which I have been seeking the six years I've been here. I was trying to wait until I got it working to post about it, but being totally new to DMX setup, Ive hit a brick wall. These are Response-Box (Engineering Solution) RGB Nodes...

article: Americans wistful for incandescent Christmas lights

I recently saw wreaths with what looked like pale red and green incandescents mixed with obvious cool white LED's. Upon closer look, the reds and greens were actually also white LED's, but with the classic painted glass envelope. They were even the identical shape (2.5v), with the little round...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

OK; here we go, now, finally; it looks like: http://berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2009/06/10_graphene.shtml (New article); this is being contrasted to current semiconductors in transistors and LED's which have "fixed" properties. "Now, University of California, Berkeley, researchers have...

2008 Holiday Lighting Finds (including pics!)

Tri-color meaning separate red, green & blue LED's, or were they rgb LED's that change color? This past Christmas was a real bust as far as new RGB products, as had seemed to be promised. I hope they're getting some good stuff ready now for next Christmas; and consumer oriented (not hundreds...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

If you mean a single LED with the three dies, rather than separate LED's (SRGB), then I really want that flashlight now!. (Come to think of it, the rgb bullb did look like it was producing solid colors, and not separate red, green and blue LED's The separate images I can understand, but I still...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

Those use separate LED's; I'm talking about an LED with a single chip that can produce any visible wvelength without mixing colors. That flashlight I want for Christmas, or whenever! That is the closest thing to what I had been asking about before. You can change the color, though you can't mix...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

I've always wondered what green + amber would look like. With all the two-primary signs out now (RyG, RmB, ApB), they don't have ones with amber and the other colors. The B+G mixing makes a nice rich cyan (You can even see this on those 7-color LED's). It's much different than the...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

That's actually not true, as an amber or orange made by mixing red and green (even if a single LED with rgb dies) looks nothing like those brilliant monochromatic 590 LED's, as well as the slightly longer orange and orange-red ones (600-619) which are common on signage as the most visible color...

Is a one-chip full monochrome color LED possible?

My first post.^ No one seemed to know about it, apparently; but over the passing four years I would keep searching, and today I found these: http://www.optotech.com/data_sheets/OTLA-0130_13.pdf http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?IA=US2007026169&WO=2008085411&DISPLAY=DESC...

9,576 Phillips LEDs in the new New Years Eve NYC Times Square ball

If LED bulbs have gotten bright enough to light the Brooklyn Bridge soon, you would think they would have converted this year sign to LED too!

    Low pressure sodium?

I discovered it was not just the one town of Massapequa Park, but rather the entire township of Oyster Bay (Basically, all of eastern Nassau Co. stretching from the LI Sound to the ocean). Also, neighboring Babylon township has them also. In fact; theirs were even fit into the standard street...

2007 LED Xmas Lights Failure ALREADY!

Oh; well I just have not caught these for sale anywhere, and I'm wondering whether the ones I've seen on are real or not.

2007 LED Xmas Lights Failure ALREADY!

I've been seeing lot of violet LED strings up, but they look more like white with purple filter. That was the original "purple" LED Christmas light, and while real purple/violet emitting LED's are out there, I haven't heard of or seen them used as Christmas lights. So those lights probably won't...

Incan Bulbs Banned in 4 Yrs. Stock Up Now !!

Well, if it's the beige 2700K incandescent color you like, LED Effects has had LED's matching this color for 2 years. Not sure why this is not appearing along with the 3500K stuff calling itself "incandescent white". As for the EV's; it seems the companies don't want it. But to try to show they...

    LED Christmas Lights, 2007

Yeah, I think someone I spoke to did say something about the tree playing music or something. I didn't see anything like that at Lowe's. IIRC, all the prelit trees at the Lowe's I go to have been incandescent. The only LED's there are the GE strings.
