Is it okay to charge Li-ion's everyday?

+1 I'm learning Li-Ion myself. You use 10-50% of an 18650 Li-Ion every day? :ooo: 3.6 is not the low point, but the nominal voltage. 3.0 should be the low point: http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-5A.htm Quoted from BatteryUniversity: Prolonged battery life through...

My find, Duracell CR123's for $.50

I found that Duracell 223s are 2 CR123 cells in a small plastic housing easy to remove. Some guy at the local market was trying to get rid of these NIW Duracells that expire in 2015 and 2017 for $1 a pop. They are still individually shrink wrapped and measure 3 V. He threw in one that...

    Lithium or rechargeable?

LSD (Low Self Discharge) rechargeable NiMH batteries like Eneloops. It's like they were almost designed for flashlights. :) IIRC they perform better in the cold than alkalines. Lithiums are reserved for emergency cells.

    Lion stumbling block

Thomas Distributing. Otherwise, Rayovac has had $5 off 4pk coupons and decent rebates on the Hybrids too making them very cheap. There must be some LSD cells for sale in B&M stores in Australia, no?

Safe to charge D cells with a BC-900?

I'm considering using a LaCrosse BC-900 for charging D cell rechargeables, placed in battery holders. The manual states that it uses Delta V for charge termination and "overheat protection to protect rechargeable batteries from over-charging." Since the temperature monitor would be out, is...

I'd also like to know how do you identify when the charger has missed termination. :poke:

    Energizer is getting another call

Mr. Al, With LSD cells, why not keep a few spares charged? They don't drop like regular cells. I also have the Energizer 15 minute charger. I stopped using it now. With spares, it doesn't really matter if they take 15 minutes to charge or a few hours. Maybe some long term cases of travel...

    Energizer is getting another call

If you want me to take your capitalization seriously you'll need to spell capitalization correctly. ;) Seriously thanks for correcting me for the proper units!

    Energizer is getting another call

Well thanks for your post... I tracked down this info from Sanyo's site looking for their charging recommendations, not knowing if LSD rules are different or not. How long does it take to charge an eneloop battery in the eneloop 2-position compact charger...

    Energizer is getting another call

That's very interesting, and different than my experience, my BC-900 documentation, and what I've read here. There's some contradiction at Battery University. You should use a fast charge rate, but should avoid heating the cells. A fast charge is gonna heat the cells. I'm a bit surprised as...

    Energizer is getting another call

If you do some research, the slower charge like your Duracell's is MUCH better. The fast chargers really take a toll on cells, and are not needed anymore with LSD cells. 200 MA/h is a good charge rate, so for a 2000 MAh cell, that's 10 hours to charge. I have a BC-900, it's a nice charger. :)

Where to get LiFePO4 14500 cells?

There is this adapter from KD, but I'm still waiting on an email when they might arrive or ship.http://www.kaidomain.com/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=2703

    Rayovac Hybrids vs Duracell LSD

I wouldn't hesitate to grab Rayovac Hybrids, especially if they are priced right. I have some I purchased 1 yr and 4 months ago. I opened 8 right away, and measured them on my BC-900 charger. After that long use in cameras and flashlights, all are still very close or over the 2100 MAh...

AA hybrids and LSD harder to find.

I think it could be done with a well directed marketing campaign... And now is really the time with "going green" being the in thing right now. But IMHO there just isn't money in it. They can keep cranking out primaries, and consumers will keep buying them. Those of us who have used them see...

Where to get LiFePO4 14500 cells?

What do you mean by if I want to risk it? I did a search on them with nothing to really speak of... :poke:

Where to get LiFePO4 14500 cells?

I hope someone has a better answer, but it looks like an AW-138 3.0v/3.6v R123 charger. Then need a battery adapter to fit it. I haven't found the adapter online, but it's something Radio Shack used to sell.

Where to get LiFePO4 14500 cells?

I'm having a hard time locating some of the LiFePO4 3 volt 14500 cells. DX is out of stock now. :( I've also checked with AW and BatteryJunction.

AA hybrids and LSD harder to find.

I think there is extremely poor marketing regarding the LSD cells. Probably because for the large names, there isn't money in it, and they would rather keep selling tons of alkalines. Isn't it crazy? I had a camera that used AA cells. Granted I had 2200 MAh Energizers, but the discharge...
