*new* Fenix PD35, upgraded to 960 lumens!

I think you're really blaming our eye's perception of light more than the flashlight. ;) I just got a PD35 2014 edition, and the steps do seem to make sense. The eco of 14 lumens is pretty bright, you could go lower but you're already at 150 hours of rated runtime, probably longer with a...

Fenix LD01 stainless won't turn off

I have a Fenix LD01 Stainless R5 that broke a while back. It won't turn off. As soon as the battery makes contact with the head, it turns on and stays on even when it's fully screwed on. I tried some contact cleaner (DeOxit), and then it worked correctly for a day or two. Then back to never...

Throw, Flood or mix what do you like?

For general use, prefer flood by far. I have a thrower (Olight Warrior) which gets very little use, due to the focused beam. You can use it up close, but in comparison to a floody light it sucks. I've replaced smooth reflectors in most of my other lights for textured ones. For some limited...

Praise for the Fenix LOD and suggestions for improvement

4sevens said in one of the new Fenix model threads that there is something in the works for the L0D... Can't wait to see what it is! OP is right about 95% of the time being sufficient... Maybe even more. :) It's so easily pocket able it's the light I always have on me.

Olight M20 Warrior - Low Battery Flashing with New Batteries Issue

I just received mine yesterday, so far it has only about 5 minutes of use on it walking around the woods in my backyard. I didn't get a warning from an AW 18650 and two AW RCR123s, but they do have higher voltage and I haven't used it much. My O-rings were dry, I lubed mine first thing.

AA LED - long run-time, likes recharageables, built tough?

This part I don't get - why use dangerous lithiums when you don't get any extra output (brightness) and similar runtime? LSD NiMH gets rid of the self discharge drawback of NiMH. LiIon 'vent with flame' doesn't happen that often, but why even take small risks when you don't need to?

AA LED - long run-time, likes recharageables, built tough?

Buy a Fenix L1D Q5, and then get a L2D body and tailcap (and plastic cap). You can have a 1xAA light, or 2xAA light by simply switching bodies. The plastic cap with spare body functions as a spare battery holder, and you'll have a spare tailcap in case the switch craps out on ya. You might...

    Nitecore D20

Attach the lanyard, or simply some thread tied in the lanyard holes will do it. Not the best, but works. :)

How durable are the Fenix lights?

Any 'ole flashlight may certainly not - high heat than rapid cooling & freezing causes a lot of rapid expansion/contraction that can kill electronics. Tossing into a lake too, I didn't see the thread, any idea of the depth? Could have been quite deep.

    Nitecore D20

Are the threads thicker? Just worried a little about the durability now... I'd assume it carries the improvements from the earlier D10/EX10, but you know what they say about assumptions. ;) Busticated light from thin threads: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=208460

What's the big deal about the piston lights?

I'm trying to decide on one, the D20 looks damn nice. One thing I'm not so sure about is for an emergency light. If you get dirt on the tube while changing batteries, and don't have your trusty tube of silicone lube with you, then what? I read the switch can get flaky if not lubed properly...

Highest output AA form factor LED light?

Seems like this question has been asked once a day lately. Can't anyone read the first page or search? D20 is a nice looking light but not out yet. Fenix L2D is a nice proven light, they have a LD20 shipping soon (maybe now). Olight T25 looks pretty nice too. Fenix would be the...

    Nitecore D20

Hrm... Hopefully someone knows if the threads at this one are a little thicker at the head. After reading the "thread popped off" thread, and seeing the pics, I'd like to see if they added a little more meat in that area before ordering.

I used my strobe in an accident tonight ...

I just did a test. I put the a L2D Q5 equivalent light on the roof of the car, put 'er on strobe, and walked about 20' away. Got in front of the light as best I could. Wow. It REALLY gets your attention, but not nearly enough light to blind you. I could still see quite fine. *Actually...

I used my strobe in an accident tonight ...

Anyone with doubts should just take out their light at night. Prop it up in a tree or roof of car, throw it on strobe and look at it about 20 ft away. I doubt anyone is going to have a problem.

I used my strobe in an accident tonight ...

Well if the person isn't an absolute certifiable moron, at least with a flashing light they ought to slow down. That's a far sight better than someone slamming into a person or stopped vehicle at full highway speeds. Cmon, like Marduke said some need to get back into reality. Reality is a 180...

I used my strobe in an accident tonight ...

Good luck with your recovery. A new found respect for strobe mode. One of those things that you think might be useful in some circumstances, but not 99% of the time. Better to have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. Well, I guess it's still not tactical so the cool kids will...
