    Recent upgrade in the black light. Streamlight classic LED upgrade kit. Unbranded Terralux (I'm guessing) in the red one. Time for more patina.... The Terralux is just a little longer, 2 mm or so.

    I can't take credit for the red one. It's seen some toolbox wear for sure. The unbranded Terralux type LED wasn't bright until I removed the grime and scratches from the optic with a dose of polywatch scratch remover. A new boot is on order.

    I had temporarily lost my Thrunite T10 like this and bought this copy. It doesn't show the scars of use like an aluminum one would. The brand name has worn off the head however.

    They seem to hold up better than my Nitecore Tubes do. No plastic case disintegration, no faulty circuit after a few weeks of use.

    Biggest I carried in my pocket was the Nuwaii Q3 back in the early days. A CR123 light with a crenellated bezel. Was comfortable in the pocket. Now it's a Thrunite T10 clicky clone in stainless. The one with the slightly tapered head and rear clicky.

    AA and tail clicky for me. Thrunite T10 with the Stainless head was my recent go to until I dropped it in my car's engine compartment. Until it was fished out during an oil change, the Nitefox ES10, same basic package but all stainless has been my EDC. Bright enough for my needs 90% of the time...

    Low modes are a battery-saving measure are not all that useful

    I am in this camp. My preference would be 20-30 lumens for "low" and 100-120 for "high". Levels below 10 or so don't do it for me personally. But I am looking around in electronic cabinets where bright lights wash out everything to my eyes.

    A definite TBT light. An old Seoul LED. Still works and still gets used. The Surefire gang. All with LED modules (no name modules). The G2's have red and green LED's for night work. The Lithium gang. Mostly P60 hosts but a few are not. Two Streamlights, one Seoul and a Kobalt.

    I have a really old 1985-ish 2D cell that I used for years and I like the character marks. Depending on how scruffy it is, having it anodized in a contrasting color would highlight the scratches and give it a neat effect.

    The Right Tool for the Right Job

    Computer and lab gear technician. Mostly I need a small AA or AAA light that is not eye blistering bright. Sometimes a headlamp is handy. Or handlessly. Currently I EDC an Eagletac D25A clicky so I have the best of both worlds (regular or bright).
