Re: LED give BMW\'s accent
cobb, EU-spec have been doing the same for ages. you either turn the headlight dial to L or R, or in BMWs case, set the turn signal lever to R or L. the turn lamps on that side of the car stay lit up dimly. useful cuz the streets are narrow in the Old Country.
exactly, low beam output is 2800-3200lms for HID low beam (they may also use the same capsule for highs in bi-xenon, but the capsule is producing the same amount of light, where it goes changes), which is why they spread out the light laterally so much, so that they don't hit the peak limits of...
LEDs have reached the luminous flux of HID? are they kidding? their chart shows LED as approaching approx 1000lms, while D2S/D2R HID capsules put put 3200/2800lms.
bi-xenons just have a shutter to shield part of the beam, so on dipped beam, the shutter is in place, for high beam, it moves out. there is a seperate incandescent lamp for flash-to-pass which is what you see right next to the projection lens w/ the black tip/cap on it (looks like H7, too bright...
Re: Please explain how infrared LED flash camera w
most digicams have extended range into the red spectrum, some dSLRs have an IR filter ahead of the sensor. depends. not sure what product you are talkign about, but a quick search showed IR flashes on cameras to take remote b/w low resolution...
Re: New design KL1 being shipped
so, can i ask how this compared to the ever popular modded older KL1s (the ones with stock driver, but 3w and 17mm IMS reflector)
Re: Heat dissipation of the U2 at 100+ lumens...ho
the L4 makes abotu 80 lumens to start, as Peter mentioned when he had some lights sent to a firm with an integrating sphere. it shouldn't be too hard for the L5+ and U2 to hit 100 then.
well now i'm thoroughly confused. I shall, upon receiving my KL1 head (part of package from another CPFer, who bought from SF.com 3 months ago), call up SF, give them the ser # and ask what lux it uses, and when (if) they switched.
SF should then use the same reflector as in the L4/KL4 in the KL1, to cut inventory and costs; heck, share the same head, dome lens, bezel, reflector, just change the emitter and circuit, why dont they?
if that is true, one, it would be amazing, second, wouldn't underdriving the 3w (which are specced at 700ish and 1a) cause them to turn green? unless they pick the blue end of things, and underdrive to get a neutral white.
Re: Thanks for all the great replies
KT, that's what i suggested, and am having made at the moment. should be a great light, meets all requirements of the original poster, but potential for future growth and upgrades.
Re: Thanks for all the great replies
for EDC, i vote E1e/KL1. for 150, you can get an E1e body with your choice of LOTC or clicky, and a KL1 head modded with a luxIII AND a the SO17XA reflector AND have money left over, which then you can spend on the two-state McGizmo tailcap. This will give...
shouldn't all V flux 5w, driven at spec (700ma?) be putting out at least 113lms? so even a U flux driven bt bb750 should be able to top 100 lms on a 2 cell body, like the PR heads, yes? or is flux bin different from what a light actually puts out?
