What makes you proud to be an American?

Aren't Surefire, Arc and Sreamlight U.S. companies? Did I miss something?

    should pot be legal?

I think so, yes. Decriminalizing Marijuana to some extent could free up crucial law enforcement tools that might be used in other areas such as anti-terrorism, and billions wasted in a drug war that can't be won if the people don't support it. Yes there will still be cocaine, heroine, meth...

    Canoe buying advice?

Does Old Town still make the Discovery 158? Maybe I've missed it, but I don't see it on their site anymore. I might be looking for a used one soon. Can they get "ruined" in any way that I should look out for? Thanks - Sean

is this. for.. real..? the soldier and the sign?

Well he's not a US soldier bud because we don't have lance corporals in the US Army. The point was he's probably an IRAQI. That's why I was slick and put the "SOLDIER" and "MARINE" in quotes -- get it? As for the woodland vest with the desert BDU's, there was an article in the Army Times...

is this. for.. real..? the soldier and the sign?

I agree with Rothrandir. I didn't blow up the picture but I see no name, no rank and that "soldier" is wearing almost no gear and what he has on is mismatched. He also looks like it is possible he is an arab himself. EDIT: sorry "Marine"

    Army Medics

Okay, I'm not a forum member but my husband is and he pointed out this thread to me. I just got out of the Army Medical Corps less than a month ago and I thought I could add my $0.02. So here goes. First of all, the old addage that recruiters are liars is pretty much true. They won't give...

    Truck repair? Scrap? advice

just pry the head up enough to scrape off the old gasket and slide a new one in place and bolt it back up. Worst case scenario you're out the cost of a gasket and some silicone. Heck of a lot better than the $700-$1000 your mechanic wants to charge you. if the gasket blew because of another...

Idea: How to deal with vicious criminals in prison

I understand the prevention aspect, but I think there's more there. Our society accepts killing under certain circumstances, but not others. I don't see a gluttony for death. I see an open society of approaching 300 million people, and amongst all of those people some will be murderous. It's...

Idea: How to deal with vicious criminals in prison

I don't like the death penalty, but I'm not convinced by the argument that says the dp is more expensive than a life sentence or that it actually raises violent crime. Not because I don't believe the studies, but because of what's NOT IN the studies. If these criminals thought they wouldn't be...

Idea: How to deal with vicious criminals in prison

Well, some prisoners in an Az facility just took two tower guards hostage, so I guess for now the vicious criminals in prison are deciding for themselves...

    Supreme court gone south.

I'd say Godwin's law killed far fewer threads than Internet Warrior Syndrome has. Some people, rather than use a forum for the exchange of ideas, would rather take a swing at whoever comes near them. Straw arguments and accusations, combined with selective hearing and creative editing can make...

    Supreme court gone south.

[ QUOTE ] Sasha said: Again... I don't fear this! My local SWAT team has invaded my house many many times... and I've invaded every single one of theirs also! And yes, some people have been dragged away and been held... but we kinda had a guess as to why... ... Hell, I've even had DEA and FBI...

    Supreme court gone south.

[ QUOTE ] Sasha said: The probable cause is that you may know something that could help them. [/ QUOTE ] Sasha, I can't even begin to state how incorrect some your statements have been today. Let alone the one above. Ask ANY ANY ANY police officer you can find what probable cause is --...

    Supreme court gone south.

    Supreme court gone south.

It's really not a matter of having anything to hide. On Ft. Bliss I go through check points and vehicle searches every day. They don't bother me. Every highway leaving el paso has a border patrol checkpoint with more questions and more searches. I'm used to them too and certainly not afraid of...

    Supreme court gone south.

Here's a link: Supreme Disaster When you add this to the decision the day before that says the us gov't can now hold certain people in complete secrecy without due process, it's even more frightening.

    Surefire to stop using dealers?

First off, Wasabe64 has a great point with the idea that SF is protecting intnt'l dealers. Second, I've got no problems with CPF dictating what they will or won't allow their site to be used for. However, to imply that individuals should not send a letter or e-mail to Sure-Fire to express...
