Accidental pocket dialing 911 - Galaxy Note Edge

Huh, same page here. Been using android for ~4 years now, and have never even had my phone unlocked in my pocket. That being said, I'm fairly loyal to HTC and their good design, so I'm unaware of Samsung. Couple of comments that I'll toss out there based on android: Like stream says, My phone...

Post apocalypse SHTF scenario: A starving mother, little child walk up to your camp..

Funny mention about the Walking Dead. I haven't watched much of the TV series, but the video game is phenomenal and heart wrenching. In the middle of the first episode, I had to stop playing, and go walk into a hurricane to calm my nerves for a bit. I don't know if there was an exact situation...

Blizzard Nemo - NE Snowstorm 2013

I think there are many people on CPF that have something like, oh a pelican full of batteries here, a crate of SF123s over there.. :D Food is stocked, shovels and tires are ready. Looking forward to it. Now if only I had some deep cycle batteries and inverters that I could hook my internet...

long life pencil for cheap people

Actually, I do have a space pen. One replacement later, it still doesn't hold a nib to how much use my pencil sees. Plus I like darker pens like gel based ones. I have a slightly gross story. I found one of my 'backup' pencils, aka the one that I use when I'm not at my desk. It's always in my...

long life pencil for cheap people

Well. It's been a few years since page 1 of this thread. I'm pretty sure I still have the same pencil. Pentel products do indeed last a lifetime. I've also have not refilled it since the last time I dumped 180 pieces of .5mm lead into it. Maybe I should count them and see how many I've gone...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Yeah, I suspect all that would have effectively happened would be I ask the cashiers and staff what to do with my basket full of stuff. Probably would have been able to compare the color rendition of my lights while putting back the eggplant .

What did you use your flashlight for today?

So I learned today: Grocery shopping, shop early, shop often. I was on my way back from some other random errands that really didn't need doing, into my nearby grocery store. I noticed the parking lot was a flurry, but I expected as much on a weekend at this time. As I was walking up to the...

    Use in theater

I've actually had great luck with the ShiningBeam S-mini series of lights. Simple low medium high, and so far has been the best value level light I've used. Their other house brand lights are probably decent. The beam profile should be pretty good for checking out the cats and the low should be...

Received the worst insult since becoming a flashaholic

Someone with an IS needs to measure an S3.

Do you make a name for your flashlight just as what you did to your pet?

I name many of my other things like electronics, bikes, or cars, but I haven't gotten to my flashlights.

Butter and Bread and Sandwiches Oh My! (II)

Oh man, it's been a while. Nothing quite like looking at an old thread (or even its predecessor) and seeing a post by yourself on the first page. Long live the bread thread! Recently I've found myself buying more bananas than one person can really eat. When they burn up into brown mush, it's...

What lights do you have charged up and ready to go for Hurrican Sandy?

I got an email from multiple utilities this week. I laughed a little bit when they said to make sure you have a working flashlight in the house, and extra batteries.

Small EDC, a ZL with rear clicky?

ElectronGuru, I feared as much. Good insight, makes perfect sense. I had a 120P back in the day, and I really liked its interface. Still lives in my car actually. Looks like I"m going to have to buy two lights. If only they made a slim HDS.

Small EDC, a ZL with rear clicky?

I'm in the market for a new EDC. I've not kept up on my CPF homework, and the last light y'all dangled in front of me to buy was a G25C2 Mk1. I was initially just going to pick up another ZebraLight SC31w, since I do love that series. In particular, I like how it's a very small light, with...

    Flashlight shop in Bangkok downtown?

Be careful of what you pick up there. Bangkok is a great smorgasborg of shopping, but don't expect any quality. I saw knock offs of knock offs on the street, and maybe Ultrafire quality stuff inside the big malls. Thankfully you probably won't pay more than a few bucks for anything.

Floody, very bright and with as little modes as possible?

Well, to open up the can, you can always find any 1" two mode light you like and slap a SF F04 on it.

    Count your lumens

You people are making spreadsheets arn't you? :nana: A pitiful 2320 here. Although another 1600 in the LED lightbulbs in this room. As for batteries, are we counting stockpiles of primaries (how many Wh in a pallet of CR123s?) or rechargeables?

Air travel barometric stress & SF

I don't think I've ever heard anything from the TSA that was either useful or true. The pressure might tickle our lights a little. Having taken a variety of lights hiking in at high altitudes, all my lights have been fine. Nothing more than a Nalgene hissing at me after hiking from 4000 to 8000...

I hate all all of you

I just had a realization. When I get engaged, I'm going to have to explain that I have no 401k, no savings, and enough liquid assets to buy me a $1 burger. I might have a cover story about how I donated it all to monks that take care of wild animals. In reality, it would because I had bought...
