    Self Defense with an LED

Uhh, yes: the guy couldn't possibly have been moved to reply because what you said was paranoid and silly. So you think that, in general, politicians pay their own campaign expenses... And people should listen to you because...??? Says the person who went off it for some free-range paranoid...

    Self Defense with an LED

Wrong: he didn't say that at all. You simply have failed to understand his point - which is not that "predation" is zero, but that it is rare enough that increased lethality in arguments between normal" people would counter any benefit of carrying weapons. Rule One of Debating: If you want to...

Sunwayman S10A(XMG2 1xAA): Not a "great shark" but excellent spill oriented light

Sunwayman S10A(XMG2 1xAA): Not a "great shark" but excellent spill oriented light Firstly a warning: I'm writing this review with only a few days of using this item - something I wouldn't normally do, but the misleading manufacturer's description needs fixing, good spill lights are rare, and...

    1AA with smooooooth beam?

From my experience, *definitely*. It may be a characteristic of SSC lights in general, from what I hear. LF5's seem tricky to buy though, and they have an eccentric interface. Otoh, the quality of beam and the flashlight itself are very high.

small AA/RCR123 flashlight? is there any?

Possibly you want the 123's for brightness/runtime and the AA for availability? A better solution might be to buy an AA light that will take AA-sized 14500 rechargeable lithiums like the LF5, Defender Infinity, etc. A 14500 stores about as much energy as a 123 and a light that uses one...

    Is Luxeon old technology?

Surely any multilevel light will do this?

    Is Luxeon old technology?

In practice, both lights will put more light than most people will need. Otoh, a T1 throttled back to match the U2's output will burn much longer and it's a *lot* cheaper.

Which AA light has the lowest low?

The Photon Pro is a good suggestion. The Liteflux LF5 might also suit your needs - it's a programmable light and you can reset the low (or any other) brightness setting.

LED lights should only be used for general purposes

But wait! This guy gets even dumber: 1. Sure. White light is invisible to dogs. That's why they can't see in daylight. 2. He doesn't know that white light is a mixture of colours???

LED lights should only be used for general purposes

The guy is an animal abusing moron. The U2 is over-priced and based on obsolete technology, which SF can get away with because a large part of their market is clueless wannabe's who buy lights as fashion statements - and even so, SF are retiring it. He's so stupid he hasn't even noticed that...

Midnight Sun in the palm of my hand?

Why spend that much money? You can get an excellent 200 lumen multilevel light for less than $100 now. If you don't need more than 100 lumens, there are single AA lights that will do what you want - or even AAA lights.

Wife Needs A Search and Rescue Light

The lights compared in this review might be of interest: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=179105 - The main light reviewed is the Regalight - tough, gives 4 hours at 200 lumens setting or 8 at 60 lumens with decent regulation, reasonably pocketable. The D-mini it's...

Wife Needs A Search and Rescue Light

And no regulation - meaning the light starts out bright and then dims rapidly. A modern SAR light should have fixed brightness, especially given that it's so cheap. (I suspect SF don't put it in the G2 to force consumers to buy a more expensive light.) And SF's "no fuss warranty" in practice...

Anyone think all chinese light look the same?

The LF's are also completely different in interface to anything else, except possibly some very high end US lights.

Higher out put LED??? in the future

Beside the Milky U2, and possibly even nicer because of its epoxy potted electronics, vast number of battery options, and exceptional one handed operation, there's also the Peak First Responder - 3 state of the art LEDs with continuous brightness control.

    I JUST GOT MY FIRST SF ! ! ! ! ! ! !

This isn't a simple issue. If someone buys a light and they like it, I don't think anyone should try to make them feel bad about it. On the other hand, if someone - on a "I've bought a light thread" starts trying to incite people to spend cash for a light that possibly isn't that good, and is...

Is the Gladius Special Ops better than my Lumapower M1 ?

Marketing material is wonderful to read, but there seem to real flaws in the Gladius as a tactical light - unless they've been fixed: http://www.flashlightreviews.com/reviews/night-ops_gladius.htm Personally, I wouldn't buy a light costing more than $10 from a manufacturer who won't bother to...

AA light with floody beam pattern & high output?

My first suggestion would be to use 2 single AA lights - stick one each side, angled apart. You might do better getting that brightness/runtime using AA sized 14500 rechargeable lithium poly cells. You could even use 4 lights, one on top of the other on each side.

NiteCore Defender Infinity - titan for the masses?

Yes. The Chinese manufacturers really need to start considering this - nothing makes a light look and feel better than this.

    Focusable LED with Two Batts

A problem with focus in a light, at least a low cost one, is the risk of BAD dark rings in the beam. People put aftermarket reflectors in the big Maglites to somewhat make up for the problem, but I suspect that the problem might be worse in lights with small reflectors??? As Zenster says, in a...
