    A bad sign for Freeplay

I trust a decent light with a CR123 more than I trust some wind-up cookcoo-clock budget light from overseas. CR123 has a shelf life of 10yrs. The super low and moon mode output features that have been recently popular benefit this attribute well.

Getting my friend a nice flashlight for his birthday...

I have given several G2, G2L, and most recently a G2X away as gifts when I have someone that I think high enough of should not be without a good light. Mostly friends and family. I give the CR123 lights away as I am giving them away so the owner has a slight edge of preparedness and a quality...

what is your WIFE'S edc light??

EarLy quark mini cr123 I'm sure you guys can relate, but there have been a few times where she was the only one in the crowd to have anything brighter than a cellphone for illumination when it went dark. I'm also thinking of sticking a G2L in her glovebox

    Glock Xenon Light

Glock isn't exactly known for adopting anything new. I say this as a completely satisfied Glock owner. I'd recommend looking at a SF X300 for a replacement. Much more functional, reliable, and brighter than the glock branded Incan.

american wars...what flashlights did the soldiers carry?

Amazing how far we have come! What is even more interesting is that military flashlights had not changed much at all since WWII until recently! Of course SF came in during the 1980's "Laser Products" era, but that was a due to the needs of police agencies rather than the military. Typically...

    SF G2 vs. G2 led

Or get a G2L, and then get an really frickin bright Lumens Factory drop-in Incan. Still two lights in one and you get the metal bezel of the G2L. cant go wrong either way

4th ANNUAL SUREFIRE WISH LIST FOR 2009....Let 'er rip!

Right angle light / like a MOLLE light. Basically re-create the old GI-issue lights. Think a G2/G3 with a right angle bezel, and a flip-down red filter. A small AA/AAA light (think L01/Arc AAA/CMG Infinity) include shirtclip for sticking on a ball-cap. Make in diff colord bulbs with a...

Would you rather carry long/thin or short/fat?

What does your Significant Other EDC?

Some little 1xCR123 streamlight doohickey and a Colt:party: I'm gonna upgrade her something a little brighter for christmas. Probably one of the newer Fenix lights with the single operating mode. Gotta keep thngs simple, shes a blonde:thinking:

Lights for nocturnal walking around at home 2008

Good point. I had questioned this behavior myself until I started to get into these goofy lights. Now I find that it is a big inconvenience to turn on lights as I make my way around the house after I switch things off after dark. The switches are generally out of the way of where I am going...

Lights for nocturnal walking around at home 2008

To get around without blinding anyone or make the neighbors think an alien abduction is occuring I use a Gerber Firecracker. 17 Lumens Nichia rigel, Optic for spot and throw of beam, 1XAA, twist-on or temporary push (cap has intentional play in the contact, not a "clicky") Got a small keyring...

    Inova X5 not Bright eneogh.

Surefire G2L or G3L Very good floody beam with decent enough throw. The Nitrolon plastic is tough as nails. It is lightweight, not cold/hot to touch in extreame temperatures (i.e. cold light in winter) Good enough run times (go G3L if you want best run time) Easy to hold size. People...

Current trends in modern LED flashlights: an open discussion

Heh, the whole point of getting my 6p (my first [i]real[/]light) was to get me something that would sit on the nightstand until I needed it. I never really needed a light before, but if 6 years went by and I heard someone break a window, I would want something that I knew would come on. (had...

Ways of enlightening people around you

Make them jealous usuallly goes something like this: sitting on buddy's back deck with a few friends and beers after dark. buddy says something about his new boat trailer or some crap. buddy says lets go look at it, but let me find my flashlight first. I say, nevermind, i have one holding...

Current trends in modern LED flashlights: an open discussion

The current trends that I am seeing is a move to AA batts away from CR123. As much as I love CR123 shelf-life, resistence to cold, and the general exclusiveness of them, they are just not required to power LEDs with regulation. Regulation in common / retail lights. Good to see regulation in...

WHAT WOULD YOUR FLASHLIGHT COMPANY BE NAMED??

 okay I admit it! the first thing that came to my mind was to put the word "fist" into the name too. Fist CAN be a verb and a very usefull one at that! I guess that leaves me with FU LIGHT. The "F" does not stand for Fist in this case.:sssh: Either that or go with something...

Props to Coast for Cust Service

hah, well I just posted in the "good deals" subsection about a local gun shop having a 40% off sale on all their lights and they deleted the post because they thought I was trying to advertise. They did suggest buying a "dealer" account or something equivlent I politely refused.:o...

Props to Coast for Cust Service

Thanks for the welcome! I'll leave it up to the mods to move this as appropriate, but i'll make sure I check forum suitability before creating threads in the future. For the record, i'm using in addition to the above listed coast, a SF 6P, a SF G2L in yellow, and a gerber firecracker for my...

Props to Coast for Cust Service

First time poster, long time reader. I've got a few nice lights, but my first LED that I ever bought was a Coast Led Lenser Mini Tac Torch V. A nice little keychain $15 Nichia that runs on 4 button batteries that I bought when I had to buy something with a gift certificate at a store that was...
