What color LED for Human Thearapy

I don't know about any medical applications, but this thread on high CRI LED's might be of some interest: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=199054

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games LED 'Torches'

Bummer. I suspect that's because NBC doesn't have the marketing rights for the Olympics outside the US. I got the same treatment from the BBC site. Try the website for whatever media outfit is carrying the Olympics in your country - good luck!

Beijing 2008 Olympic Games LED 'Torches'

If you've got a fast connection, there's a nice replay on the NBC website: http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/index.html?forcereload=true Look for "Opening Ceremony Sights & Sounds" under "Encores" - it's almost an hour long. (Video requires an MS Silverlight plug-in for your browser, btw.)

    The new Arc-LS

What hooked me on CPF was reading the UI design discussion for the ARC 4 (ALL of it!). I came in late, so I got to see a time-compressed version of all the twists and turns as ideas were batted around, enhanced, discarded, prototyped and finally transferred to the final product. (Remember the...

    The new Arc-LS

You should have seen the thread on the ARC 4 UI. I downloaded that to an ebook and read it on a business trip. Sort of the flashlight version of a summer thriller...well to me anyhow. :) I think it's fantastic that ARC lets us peek through this knot hole in their construction fence...

Pocket Clip ideas for old style E1E/KL1 combo?

Hi all: I've replaced the head on my old-style E1E with a fantastic Milky-mod KL1. Only problem is that the pocket clip on the old E1 was attached to the head (vs. the body on the newer style E1), so the "new" light is clip-less. Any ideas for a decent clip? Regards, Bob

    Request flying white/NVG light recommendations

I second GreenLED - the A2 is worth a look. It only has two "speeds" - either the low power LED's (only one color but you get to pick from several, including white and NVG- compatible YG) or the VERY bright, regulated, long-throw incandescent light. (You can back out the tail cap to "lock...

what r IR leds used 4?

Pretty much every electro optical system that doesn't have to be visible. IR LED's are cheaper than visible ones and nicely match the sensitivity of common detectors, so IR is usually first the choice. Examples (cribbing some from above to keep the list complete): Remote controls Opto...

Why don't LED's have as good a throw as incandescents?

    Check out this thread: http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=98946&highlight=mini-hid

Why don't LED's have as good a throw as incandescents?

In addition to the above, a basic factor in determing throw is the divergence of the beam, which is a function of several things, including the ratio of the exit aperture diameter (e.g. reflector) and the size of the source. Incandescent sources typically emit their light from a relatively tiny...

    Mc2Es with L4 resistance values

XPB: Not sure if you saw my L4 at the Outback CPF SHOT dinner? I think I passed it around..anyway I'm using a 60 ohm in it and it's perfect for me (both with bare Li-Ion and 123's). I use it for map reading in a dark car, finding my way around a dark house, etc. If you're looking for a new...

    why no 9v flashlights ???

[ QUOTE ] pedalinbob said: pop out the focusing lens and you will essentially have a similar beam to an infinity ultra. very nice! Bob [/ QUOTE ] I completely stripped mine and wound up with something that looks very much like the Paklite, with most of the battery bare and a small cap on the...

    NYC Taxi LED rooflight project

Do you have to use the existing shells? I was thinking you could get greater efficiency by edge illumination of either a diffuser that backlights the ad, or by edge illumination of a clear panel over the ad. That might reduce the number of LED's. I've got a reading light that works something...

What was the AAA RGB Arc made for?

I'm pretty sure the target audience was the Flashaholic Raver set.

Anyone ever mod a Pal Light?

I removed mine from the case, just keeping the circuit board and the part that fits around the top of tne 9v battery. I potted the circuit board in expoxy, leaving the switch and LED uncovered. Makes a lot more compact package and a nice area light.

Arc Flashlight Going Out of Business

Peter & Merri: Very, very sad news. I've given out AAA's as gifts, with a great sense of pride that I could afford to give something so well made to friends. A few months ago I dropped my balky AAA EDC in the mail and didn't even bother to follow up, like I would with any other...

    SureFire L4 vs SureFire E2e

L4 is a lot more practical for me, but the allure of long throw is hard to break. For what I do every day (look for lost parts in a carpet, poke at wires behind the desk, working under a car dash, etc.) the L4 flood is most practical. That said, it's sure fun to light up the top of a tree...

    Lithium AAA batteries

I have a modded ARC AAA head with a Luxeon. It was always a little flaky with alkaline batteries (i.e. not wanting to immediately restart when turned off). Works perfectly with the Li AAA - worth it for me! Cheers, Bob
