Thanks all, lots of great info here for me to follow up on. I live in Canada where we can get some pretty cold days in winter and of course glove boxes get very hot in the summer if a car is closed up.
I have a Fenix TA21 which I have relegated to emergency glove-box duty in my car. Currently I'm running a protected 18650 but do you think I'd be better off running two CR123 primaries where the light is more for emergency use? My other concern is heat and the stability of the 18650 as car...
+1, just got mine today and I have the same white mark inside however it doesn't effect anything, my sample also has a nicely lubed o ring. I can't get over the amount of lumens per size as this thing is tiny (for an 18650 that is)
Have you checked to make sure the clicky switch is not loose? Inside the tail cap you should most likely see a ring with two little holes in on opposite sides...try tightening this ring with a pair of needle nose or long snap ring pliers.
+1 for calling 4Sevens, I'm curious though as you should have recieved a spare set of o rings if you purchased the light new? have you saved/checked the original packaging if you did buy it new?
I have a first run rotary and mine too has a small ring near the periphery so the reflector is most likely the same used on the first run. Perhaps it could be a combination of the XPG and the thick o ring used under the bezel? In any case it doesn't bother me at all.
I have a G42 and can attest that it throws really well thanks to the insanely deep and smooth reflector. The Armytek is way more programmable but for the money the Xeno is hard to beat as long as you can handle just three modes.
Try placing it in a sealed ziplock bag that contains some dry rice with the tail cap off for a day or so. Rice acts as a desiccant and pulls out moisture. Might not be a bad idea to stuff some cotton in the tube to keep any rice from getting into the body of the light too.
Since WD40 is thin and solvent you should re-lube the O rings to replace what it took off. This will help to protect the O ring from shredding and waterproof the light.
I can see the merits of both designs (as stated in the many pros and cons in this thread) I do find that mode skipping can sometimes occur on my Mini 123 Ti though for what it's worth. Simple single mode twisty lights like the Fenix E01 E05 are really very bulletproof though.
