Helium Neon laser, what's so special?
Most likely if it has been sitting for that long it will not even turn on or if it does will have a reduced lifetime. HeNe's were the work horses before laser diodes were developed.- Lighty

Questions on green laser IR danger
What is the danger to your eyesight from the IR from an unfiltered green laser? You talking intrabeam (directly in eye) or viewing diffuse reflections from a wall?
