    Resurrecting My old Tekna-Lite 4

Many Tekna lovers from around the world simply refuse (understandably) to abandon their Lites. These went out of production in 1990. I never cease to be amazed at how many loyal owners still use them regularly, a testament to the quality of construction of Ralph Osterhout's design. I still have...

    Tekna Flashlights

The Trek Lithium uses a 3.6v Lithium-Thionyl-Chloride AA battery, with a max of 100ma draw. The GS is directly run from this. Lumens is more like 8 with the new LED. Only our solo-LED lights use the GS, due to the reduced LED life (1,000 hr). The rest of our white LED arrays use the Nichia DS.

    Where are SureFire Lights/Components Manufactured?

I attended a Defense Supply conference on this subject; 5 federal lawyers were on one panel. I asked them to define "Made in USA" in order to comply with the FAR's. Not one straight answer in the bunch. It was comical listening to their verbal acrobatics. The simplification of the FAR above...

    Where are SureFire Lights/Components Manufactured?

We used to buy Carley lamps (our models were made in Hong Kong), then from a US manufacturer, who then moved to Hong Kong. I think the only subminiature lamp manufacturer in the US is Welch-Allyn, and I'm not too certain of their assembly points...

    Where are SureFire Lights/Components Manufactured?

Federal (US) government FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulations) define "Country of Origin" in 2 main ways, under 2 different federal laws (this is a VERY simplified version): 1. If a Federal acquisition is under $100,000, the "Country of Origin" is deemed to be the country where the final point...

    TWIST VS. CLICK

Need a momentary switch with a twist-on? Here's how: 1. Set the lens so it is JUST off. 2. Hook your thumb over the front edge of the lens. 3. Push down slightly with your thumb (this is more efficient if you align your thumb over the side contact on in-line-battery lights like ours). Oops, the...

    TWIST VS. CLICK

For twist-on lights, you are correct. You need to add length, and a longer spring. But even "Click-on" lights will deform batteries during shock if the springs, and the shock-absorption length is too short. Reed switches are not used often (we use them on some custom items)for several...
