Re: Tektite did me well on warrantee! Great compan
Hirby, All part of the service. It's nice to hear a compliment occaisionally. I've printed a copy of your post and passed it to the Cust svc. and production staff.
Now, about that 3" crack, Ken...
Re: Why are Tektite flashlights not mentioned more
AlphaNet- I usually don't plug the company on this site, but if you go to our website at http://www.tek-tite.com/Dealer_Info/dealer_info.html
You'll see our dealer requirements are easy to meet. You just have to be a bona-fide reseller.

Ross, Most waterproof lights (and I MEAN waterproof to XXdepth) will also be gas-tight. This requires a good o-ring seal. Lights can be designed to be "Intrinsically Safe", but unless you pony up $30,000 to a testing lab, you don't get the approval rating.
Craig, No social life, maybe; also no 18 month-old baby taking apart your house, no dog chewing your flashlights, etc.
Now you know how we do our durability tests...
Just for the record, All our lights are lifetime guaranteed. We get less than 1/2% return rate on all our product (not counting returns with dead batteries or bulbs)
My $0.02: We meter lights during initial testing, just for fun. We also test the competition, just as a reality check. The actual testing is so subject to errors and interpretation that we don't publish it. For example: New batteries out of the box can vary GREATLY in initial load voltage...
Photos of the EX60 are up, see separate topic "Sneak peek...".
The Trek 6000 EX60 is an LED conversion. Modules will be avail. for existing Trek 6000's. Separate boards will not be, due to patent issues, sorry. Besides, it needs 9v input.
Thanks, Craig. To all:
You can see the current TREK 6000 on the "Punishment Zone" of the LED Museum; Craig's got some good photos posted. All we need to do is add a photo of the LED board.
The LED cluster is about 2" diam., the head O.D. is just under 3". Battery config. is 3 stacks of 2...
Hi Ant, I've got a little experience with dive lights (been mfg them for 12 yrs.). Murky water is not a suitable environment for LEDs as a primary light source (great back up, though). LED's are too wide, even with the 25% narrowing paralax through a flat port. Clear water they're great...
MY- Sorry to hear about the problem.
I'll swap you for an EXPEDITION 300, 7 LED light (new), if you want. (Note to all: I only need ONE, thanks) I like to see what the competition is doing, I'll add it to my collection. Let me know.
Free- I'll try on Monday, when I get back to the office. I've got a good digital camera, I just don't know how to get the pic. attached to a post reply, yet. What can you expect from a guy who learned to program in Fortran IV on an IBM 360? Mebbee Craig can post if I email him a copy...
That'd be telling.
OK; the color temp is in the 4500k range; the beam pattern is clean 'n tight, sharply defined. At 350mA, the light output is less than an incandescent of the same mA draw, yielding less light for the same battery life. The LED life is also not being quoted (prob. under...
OK Craig; and everyone else, please pardon the sales pitch. Expedition 1400 and 1900 are available direct $119.95 & $149.95 respectively. Call 800-540-2814.
Thanks to Craig for not telling, but since It will be on public display at the Flashlight Collectors Convention tomorrow (Sat, 4/28)in...
Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but the $4 price being bandied about is a "soft estimate" for MULTI-THOUSAND quantities (as quoted to us). And yes, they are VERY sensitive to over-voltage (fried 2 myself). They can be driven up to 750 ma, but heat sinking becomes critical. We've supplied...
