ZTS - What's with all the variance?

Yeah, I expected the WF cells to be low quality, but they were cheap and I wanted something to play with when I got my new CBA II tester:D I tried several cells from DX and other places. The best bang for the buck I found was Battery Station CR123 cells. I haven't tested them myself, but I have...

ZTS - What's with all the variance?

You will not be getting any short busts of high current from a WF cell. Of the dozen WF cells I tested, a few gave me a fairly normal discharge curve, but several of them could not supply a 1A load for even 1 second. As soon as a load was applied, the cell voltage dropped below the CBA's cutoff...

Could an expert test these unusual cr123's?

I didn't even think about them having a lower cutoff:ohgeez: But it wouldn't make a big difference. You can see the voltage is dropping rapidly near the end, so they were pretty close to discharged anyway.

ZTS - What's with all the variance?

I ran a handfull of WF brand CR123 cells from DX through my CBA II tester and had the exact same problem. Open circuit voltage looked fine, but as soon as the CBA put a load on the cell, the voltage plummeted and the test came back with terrible capacity. I could re run the test several times on...

Could an expert test these unusual cr123's?

Here are the results from testing a pair of those green 3V, 17335 cells from DX. I got 250mAh and 350mAh. One of the cells died before I could make a second test run.

    Maha MH-C808M charger...

There is a very big thread loaded with info hidden over in the review forum. edit: Oops. I see you already read that one. I figured the lack of new posts meant that it's still a good charger. I'm planning to order one soon for the AccuEvolution low self discharge C and D cells I just got. I'd...

    Ordered a BC900

I got some new Tenergy LSD AA and AAA cells a couple months ago from Battery Junction and they are junk. I use a BC900 and a West Mountain CBA to test cells and these Tenergy cells don't come anywhere close to their advertised capacity. And their actual capacities are vastly different from cell...

When is a Hybrio not a Hybrio?

I just picked up several packages of UltraLast AA LSD cells in Houston Frys and it looks like they have improved. Mine are black and green and do not have the narrower ring around the positive terminal as shown in the original post. I tested 8 of them with my LaCrosse BC-900 and they all...

Ok, hook me up with Eneloops and a charger...

The UltraLast cells I just purchased are different from the ones in that thread. These newer cells are black and green and do not have the narrower ridge around the positive terminal. Plus they all measured over 2000mAh:thumbsup:

New life to an old Fluke

I still have, and use, an old Fluke 8060A.

Ok, hook me up with Eneloops and a charger...

Do you have Frys stores in Spokane? I found some Ultralast low self discharge AA 4 packs in the Houston Frys store for about $10. They were charged and ready to go out of the package. I ran 8 of them through a capacity test in my LaCrosse BC-900 and they are all better than 2000mAh. Looks like a...

    OH CHEET!

I got several different cheapo RCR123 cells from DX a while back so I could play with my West Mountain CBAII battery tester. 3 of the cells arrived with very low charge but I was able to get them to recharge. They had very low capacity and they all died completely after just a few charge cycles.

Help me fit Fluke pack in 2D Mag

All of my rechargeable cordless tool batteries have the thermister built in and have 4 separate contacts on the batteries. The charger monitors the thermister to regulate the charge rate. Just ignore the white black pair to the thermister and use the red black pair.

Alkaline battery leakage and lithium usage poll

I have had MANY alkaline batteries leak. AAA, AA, C, D, and 9V. Energizer, Duracell, Rayovac, and many generic brands. Ruined several radios, flashlights, RC cars, digital multimeters, TV and stereo remote controls, and many more items. I hate alkaline batteries. Sometimes, if I catch the leak...

    RCR123 from Ebay...

Yup, stick with AW cells. I've tested many different brands of rechargeable 123 cells with my West Mountain battery tester and AW are the best and most honestly rated. I really like his new IMR 123 cells.

    18650 Car Chargers?

There are several. The Ultrafire WF139 can run on 12V. Lighthound sells the car cord for $3.00. Kaidomaine has part 2749.

    D-cells are fragile

I've seen this happen many times over the years in my C and D cell lights. My 4D Mag and my 3C Pelican SuperSabreLite have so much spring pressure cramming the cells together that the batteries get crushed over time regardless of how careful I am.

Any hope/help for my x990 batts?

I don't know anything about your particular light, but a quick Google showed me a few pictures and it looks like it has the same general battery pack design as cordless tools. There are several places that will rebuild these type of battery packs with new cells. Just do a Google search for...
