Non-flashaholic friends, we all have them

The head mechanic at work has well over $50,000 in tools, mostly Snap-On, (he drops everything when the Snap-On truck rolls up). What does he have for flashlights? A Mini-Mag and a really crappy shake light. He borrows a flashlight from me, fairly often. They do use fluorescent trouble...

    GI Issue flashlights?

I stuck in a 2-cell Maglite LED replacement in mine. Just dropped right in. The screw-in bulb retainer won't fit because the Maglite LED is larger in diameter than a PR bulb. You could try driilling it out, I suppose, but the bulb contact thing holds it in place just fine. I put the bulb...

What is the ONE light you would grab in a power outage

One light? With out a doubt my old PT Matrix headlamp (the one with 3 LED's). I still use this headlamp almost daily, mostly as a reading in bed and going to the bathroom in the middle of the night light. I probably put 10 + hrs. a week on this thing. Pretty long run-time, not too bright, but...

    Refurbishing Military Crooked Neck Flashlight

The magLED bulb is slightly larger than a PR bulb. But, don't worry about it. Just put the bulb in the socket and screw the head on. The center contact spring will hold the bulb in place just fine. You just might have to bend it slightly to put enough pressure on the bulb, but probably not...

How Many Flashlights Have You Lost To Corrosion?

Re: How Many Flashlights Have You Lost To Corrosio Just one in recent years. My PT Martix. I was trying to completely use up some already pretty shot batteries while reading in bed at night and then I didn't do it for 5 or 6 days and then I went to use it again and the light wouldn't come on...

    What headlamp do you recommend?

I like the PT Matrix best for reading in bed. With the Aurora, because its so close to your forehead, it reflects a little in my glasses when it is tilted down far enough for reading.

    Why not more headlamps?

I have also have really gotten into headlamps lately. I find myself using them more and more often for many of the above reasons. I, too, have wondered why there isn't more about headlamps. I do occasionally use a Nite-Ize headband, usually with a LW 2000 or PT Attitude. The problem is...

    FavouriteCheapie Flashlight?

Rayovac 2-D, black, with a yellow ring around head, and a big yellow sliding switch. Don't know where I got it anymore. Have carried it in my glovebox for years. Very nice, smooth beam. Never understood why, until I started reading this forum. Textured reflector!

Need a LIGHT for book reading

I use my PT Matrix a lot for reading in bed to try to use up my worn down batteries. Problem is that it's so efficient I can't use up the worn down batteries fast enough and they are really starting to accumulate!

    Your first flashlight memory??

My main childhood memory of flashlights is when I was a Boy Scout in the 1950's. I had a 6 volt lantern with a big spotlight on the side (about 5-6 inches) and a floodlight on the top with a metal cage around it, open at the top. It had a heavy wire bail with indents at the mounting points and...
