Re: >> AAA/AA NiMH Capacity CPF Member Tested - Please Participate - Now with Summary << OK, I'm done testing the Duracell 2650 NiMH AA cells, and here are the results: NiMH AA Cells Test Procedure: I tested 4 AA cells. I formed the cells with a Sirus Pro Former at 0.1C for 16 hours. I then...

    Triton new ZX availability?

Yeah, I'm thinking about getting one, too. I want a charger that will charge more than 10 NiMH cells at once, and I like the features reported on the ZX at the Tower Hobby website. If you get one when they come out, be sure to post what you think of it. Greg

    Triton new ZX availability?

Hi BVH. I called ElectriFly with the same question, and the only information they had was that they expected to have the chargers in late February. Greg

    MAHA C9000 for Casual User?

Silverfox, I agree with you that the break-in and discharge funtions are worth the price of the charger. I cancelled my initial order for this charger because I picked up the Duratrax ICE charger, but I will probably pick the C9000 up in a few weeks. I'm curious, though, how close are the...

Re: >> AAA & AA Capacities as Tested - Please Participate! << It is interesting to see the different ranges at which the various cells test. I have tested 4 Maha Powerex 2700 mAh NiMH cells on the CBAII, and they averaged in the mid 2400 mAh range, even at 0.2C. On my BC-900, they averaged in...

Re: >> AAA & AA Capacities as Tested - Please Participate! << I've been running tests on several different battery brands with various capacities the last few months. The last batteries I tested were some Accupower AA 2900 mAh NiMH batteries. AA Cells Accupower Test Procedure: Forming...

    Eneloope Chargers?

My eneloop cells did not really gain any capacity after running them through a "break-in" procedure. Others on the forum have reported the same thing, so I agree with BVH that the eneloop cells don't require a break-in period, although it would not harm the batteries to do so. Greg

    Fenix P1 or L2T?

Hi Knight of Myth. If you want a very bright light that is small, I would get a P1D-CE. If you want a fairly bright light with long runtime and the ability to use your AA rechargeables, I would get the Fenix L2T. I have the Fenix L2T, and it is the light I go to if I need light for an...

    Questions on Duratrax ICE Charger

OK, I talked with the manufacturer today, and they couldn't answer the question about the trickle charge. They said they would have to test a charger and call me back. I assume I will hear back from them tomorrow. So, I tested my ICE more when I got home this evening, and I discovered that...

    Questions on Duratrax ICE Charger

For those of you who have used a Duratrax ICE charger, I am curious as to whether you have seen any difference in capacity among the various charge modes (linear vs. reflex or impulse) and have any of you tried the re-peak feature in any of the modes? Also, when charging NiMH and using a...

New Fenix Digital Series! P1D and P1D CE with Cree XR-E !! Part 2

What is the discount and how do you obtain it? I ordered mine from the Fenix Store, but I didn't know about a discount--next time, maybe. By the way, I'm order no. 6500 for the P1D-CE black, and my order shipped today. Looks as though I'll have my Christmas present a few days early. Now I just...

    NiMh Battery Shoot Out

Hi RobSpook. I think that is a good call on the eneloop batteries. I have 20 of the AAs and 20 of the AAAs, and they seem robust. I really like the low self discharge, and in my tests, they stay at 1.2 volts or above for most of their discharge cycle. Also, all the ones I have tested very...

Maha MH-C9000, the Wizard One Charger

Summerwind, was that on DPR? I remember something like that, and to say you were "chastized" is a huge understatement--those types of responses is one of the reasons I frequented other photography forums.

Can Anyone Recommend A Good AGM Battery Charger ?

Hi Stingray. My 200 cycles for AGMs could be off, as I just found one online that was rated for 300 cycles. And of course you are right, the ratings are based off of full charge-discharge cycles. If you are not deep-discharging the battery, you should get a lot more cycles than what the...

Can Anyone Recommend A Good AGM Battery Charger ?

Hi JohnyGalaga. AGM batteries are great, but for your application, I would consider using a gel cell. With AGM the electrolyte is contained in an absorbent glass mat, and with gel cells the electrolyte is suspended in a gel; however, both are maintenance free and are not supposed to vent if...

    aaaaaaargh!

It's a great obsession. I've only been here a little over a month, and I am already 5 lights richer. Plus, you can share this hobby with others. My father lost power at his house the other night, and he called me later to tell me he had no flashlights and only a candle for light. Hmmm, guess...

    Why lights?

Hi Idunno445. I got into flashlights because I love batteries, and I needed something to put all of those batteries in. What I'm finding is that flashlights and batteries have a synergistic relationship--they build off of one another. The right type of battery can make a great flashlight even...
