What did you use your flashlight for today?

ha funny thread. I just used my generic 3xAAA "tactical" light to fend off a pit bull that was still coming after my puppy even as we tried to flee from the dog park. They are tough little dogs: the blow only distracted it for a second but long enough for the owner to get control of him.

    TechLite?

Maybe someone can confirm this: I observed that desoldering microcontroller pin 2 (next to pin one, which is marked by a dimple) accomplishes the following: -reduces parasitic loss to .07mA from ~.13mA (it spikes to .2 briefly when standby is first entered then settles to .07) -eliminates...

    costco's latest: 100lumen, cree emitter, focusable, 4-mode...$15 for a 3-pk!!!

I'm looking into turning it off by unscrewing and it seems like you will have to drastically shorten the springs for it to be turned off by unscrewing; otherwise it has to be completely loose to not make contact. Also, several of us have measured the current draw when off and found .12mA, which...

    Costco Techlite Lumen Master

I managed to get it apart the way you described. I just needed to add something to improve the friction under the crappy strap wrenches I had been using that led me to believe it was thread-locked. The current when the tailcap is bypassed is significantly higher then when in place; the...

    Costco Techlite Lumen Master

It is pretty loose if the focus adjustment is not tensioned up against it; I just used one flathead. If it was more stuck, I'd use a set of needle-nosed pliers (alternatively, there are of course purpose-made wrenches for this purpose).

Techlite Mod! New home for a SSC P7!

LedSanders, How do you get the head apart on this light? I can get it off the barrel and see the back of the led board but the heat sink does not fit past the back of the head which is apparently pressed in or something. The board just looks pressed in and I'm sure I could just pry it out but...

    Marketing Hype

I just bought a 3-pack for ~$17 and the package more reasonably claims 100 lumen ON HIGH and 4 hours run ON LOW. Looking at the graph someone posted, I wonder if they are only regulated on LOW. One of the three lights is dramatically whiter then the other two, which are more neutral. Also, I...

    Costco Techlite Lumen Master

How much more length is needed for the 18650? The rear cap can be unscrewed several MM and still be waterproof and have plenty of thread but more interestingly: If you remove the battery holder and look down the barrel, you will see that the LED heat sink has two notches that allow unscrewing...
