We should be reading the other threads link. Cheers

Where can I get 3aa/4aa to D cell adapters?

Rare as hens teeth or rocking horse $h!zz00 in the UK. I'm on the hunt for 6AA to 2D. Trying to find a 2nd hand 5megga or the like on BST. Cheers

GE sign on the eneloop products in the us

I thought from the thread title it would be tiny letters stamped on the bottom of the cell. Not GE writ large all over the documentation. Google turns up quite a few links between the two. I'd guess Sanyo are using GE as a trojan horse to get US citizens used to the name. Eventually the...

    Trim pots

You might be best off in the "electronics, batteries included" section but ... Pot is short for a potentiometer (resistor). A trim pot (variable resistor) is usually a small value for adjusting a larger value resistance. An external one may have a big knob that can be twiddled on the outside...

Long run time luxeon flasher ideas?

Bunch of flashers here. And a 6V 555 timer one looking interesting here. jiggle the values for the timings you want. Swap the led cluster for lux and loose the resistors. Cheers

Long run time luxeon flasher ideas?

Whilst not using Luxeons I've seen something similar back in the UK in 1986/7. UK railways were run by British Rail and they were experimenting with LED technology. I was on a temp job in one of their labs. For their rolling stock they still used oil lamps as markers for wagons in sidings and...

    UK 1/2D 3500mAh ROP questions

Thanks. At 3.45 amps I'll build up to the 1160. So in the best traditions of CPF I suppose that's one each for the 3D and 4D. Now for getting the cells into contact? Solder blobs/rare earth mags or something else? Cheers

    mah=amps/ formula

I don't think anyone has explicitly stated yet. There are 1000 miliamps in an amp. Mili means one thousandth. 1000 mAh in 1 Ah (amp hour). Cheers

    UK 1/2D 3500mAh ROP questions

I've been wanting a ROP but dont want the AA holder thingy. I've found some reasonable Yuasa 1/2D NiMh 3500mAh cells at £2.21 a pop. PDF general here. Will 6 of these fit in a 3D mag? How do I ensure the cells contact each other? Solder the tabs or rip them off and solder blob the +ve...

    Varta EasyEnergy charger & rechargeables

Hi, Lots of the talk on CPF is not Europe specific and many of the lights/parts etc are a little harder to come by. Also we tend to pay more. I have an Ansmann Powerline Mobil 5 (German company) . I'm very pleased with it. It has 4 independent slots so it can charge 4 cells of different...

    220V battery charger?

Have a look for something like Ansmann Mobile 5, I have one and so far its great. It uses a 110-240v PSU and mine came with 4 swappable socket adapters for all over the world. It also has a auto cigar plug and will work with 12-32V D/C. 4 independent channels, LED indicators, discharge func...

idea: cheap fuses for battery packs/leads

I've been using fuse holders when making cheap battery packs. Here's an idea for in-line fusing. I've decided to get rid of the holder. Automotive blade fuse, choose your rating. 2 spade connectors. e.g. Cheers

    BatTeRy PaCk HeLp/SuGgEsTiOns

Have a look at ready made battery packs from the remote control (RC) world. Not sure about where you are, but in the UK 3 sub-C 6V 3300mAh pack scosts about £30 (£10 each) and each weigh 260g . 5 9000 mAh D cells cost about £30. But they are bigger and a pack would come in at least 1000g...

la crosse BC-900 UK a.k.a. "Technoline iCharger"

UK RFI Folks I was looking for a way to assess the capacity of some (16) new "2800mAh" cells and the various other odds and AA sods. I've been looking for another charger/tester for this and have found the BC-900 V33 (I think this is the non-melter). In the UK its known as Technoline...

Can I use these batteries 4 anything?

The max discharge is rated at 160mA. That's good for 8 standard 20mA LED's, tops. The capacity is 500mAh, not great, but enough to drive a single LED for 25 hours. I'd say these are not suitable for any high power application like driving 5W luxeons. You should be able to knock up some handy...

    Voltage boost IC?

LM2577T good for 3A. If you want to build yourself. Also there are discrete enclosed DC-DC converters which may have suitable inputs and outputs 5V and 12V. They are expensive. Thinking about it, an AT/ATX PSU would do the job too. Cheers

    LM317 Voltage regulator

I think there is a voltage overhead for this chip to work. So the input voltage must be at least 5V above the output voltage. You want 3.7V at 500mA and you'll need at least 8.7V unregulated supply to get your 3.7V. The ready built ones are expensive as you get a nice looking small package...
