Flashlight used in a crime. (2nd amendment related)

If you want to quote me use copy and paste, it saves making things up. in 2004 there were 32,439 suicides in the US. Just how were these numbers included in the 16,137 homicides? Cheers

Thanks, I bow to your expert knowledge of homicide. (BTW, What's the UK suicide rate got to do with the 2nd amendment?) Cheers

Flashlight used in a crime. (2nd amendment related)

Just going from the data you are 4 times more likely to be killed by your spouse if you are a woman. 135:594 husband to Wife, 152:461 Boyfriend:Girlfriend. That seems pretty clear cut. Yes overall men are more likely to be killed than women but in relationships, women are the ones looking...

Flashlight used in a crime. (2nd amendment related)

Follow this FBI link for 2005 and you'll see the largest single reason for homicide is "argument". Also don't be a wife or a girlfriend. I guess the men are quicker on the draw. Cheers

Our homicide rates are on the way down (link) . Yearly, about the same number as get "accidentally shot" in the US. Thanks for asking. Any Australians care to comment? Cheers

GE sign on the eneloop products in the us

I thought from the thread title it would be tiny letters stamped on the bottom of the cell. Not GE writ large all over the documentation. Google turns up quite a few links between the two. I'd guess Sanyo are using GE as a trojan horse to get US citizens used to the name. Eventually the...

    Any 'Top Gear' fans here?

The "crash" episode aired this week. Richard Hammond's crash at over 280Mph in a jet powered car whilst attempting to break the UK land speed record. I'm amazed he only suffered brain damage. Not sure what I think about it all. Cheers

How do you feel about english written by foreigners?

No problem. English is a combination of languages anyway. The most important thing is for the meaning to be communicated. Even talking to other native expert English speakers (e.g. my wife) the meaning gets lost all too often. Anybody who says there is a standard English is lying. Anybody...

    Customs & Excise....

Its not an EU thing (yet) although we may well be harmonized in the future. Throw your common logic out of the window. Often, depends on your laws, if you state the value of the item as less than a certain value (in the UK I think its about GBP £18, for example) customs view the item as...

Buy a computer now or wait until Vista, your thoughts?

+1 on the buy now. I'm not happy about the DRM in Vista and all the bug brother stuff. I'm running XP and when it has its support removed by MS I hope to have a happy Linux system ready to take over the hardware. Cheers

has anyone experienced in the uk non dellivery of goods.

Once, I bought an item off ebay, from Ireland and waited and waited. I emailed and there was no reply. I emailed again and eventually they got the message. The proof of delivery (POD) had my name against it. I said that I hadn't signed and hadn't got it. They eventually sent another item...

    Trim pots

You might be best off in the "electronics, batteries included" section but ... Pot is short for a potentiometer (resistor). A trim pot (variable resistor) is usually a small value for adjusting a larger value resistance. An external one may have a big knob that can be twiddled on the outside...
