    A bit of overkill perhaps, but "The Art of Electronics" is a very good book to have around. You'll find used copies on Amazon sometimes. It will cover the basics of LED driving, and take you into designing SMPS constant current circuits, if you want to go there.

    Interesting the way the curve falls with current. Is this a thermal effect? IOW, if the LED were sufficiently cooled, would it remain at or near the highest level?

    I don't really care if a bad LED destroys a driver. The failure is the same to me, one dead channel. I could use boost, if it works out, returning the LED to VIN instead of ground. ? The Zetex ZXLD1360 I'm using now isn't having that problem. It's just woefully inefficient. It's a hysteretic...
