    Camera filter 455nm bandstop

Where could I find a camera filter that would be a narrow band-stop for the Arctic Blue laser? I want to do some video work without having the laser saturate the camera.

First attempt.... Well, I screwed up.....BAD

A bit of overkill perhaps, but "The Art of Electronics" is a very good book to have around. You'll find used copies on Amazon sometimes. It will cover the basics of LED driving, and take you into designing SMPS constant current circuits, if you want to go there.

LED traffic lights fading, LED's not working.

I would also suspect thermal cycling, and maybe issues with converting to ROHS compliance, depending on when and where they were made. Here in Pittsburgh, I see a few of the greens on my way to work with missing sections, and some blinking erratically. All in all, I suspect they are WAY...

    UV LED's for sterilization???

In case this wasn't already made clear: No.

You should have it now. Not huge.

    UV LED's for sterilization???

Interesting.. I seem to remember digikey carrying tiny UV tubes at one point. I was tempted to do an EPROM eraser with one, but never bothered with it.

    UV LED's for sterilization???

Does anyone know what is being used in the "Steripen"?

    Most efficient LED?

Interesting the way the curve falls with current. Is this a thermal effect? IOW, if the LED were sufficiently cooled, would it remain at or near the highest level?

    Harbor Freight NiCd Batteries

Having been burned (literally) by cheap chinese cells, I would avoid them like the plague.

    Surprisingly difficult drive problem

I was looking at the LM3401 this morning. Nice low Vref (0.2V) and high efficiency on the cover page, but when you get into the data sheet, with a 1A led, they show about 80-85% over my input voltage operating range. Not horrible.. but not impressive. Price of components isn't much of an...

    Surprisingly difficult drive problem

I may have to go that route. I'm using the LTC3602 in a bunch of slots, but I don't know if I can fit that solution in the space I have to work with. Yes, I need 10V. The source is three 123A cells in series, and I have to have a little safety room at the top. The battery voltage under load...

    Surprisingly difficult drive problem

I don't really care if a bad LED destroys a driver. The failure is the same to me, one dead channel. I could use boost, if it works out, returning the LED to VIN instead of ground. ? The Zetex ZXLD1360 I'm using now isn't having that problem. It's just woefully inefficient. It's a hysteretic...

New CBA-II Battery Final Version 2 Out With Discount until Feb 15th

Re: New CBA-II Battery Tester Beta Software Thanks for the heads-up, I just installed it here. Looks good, but still no cell type appropriate for 123A cells.

    Surprisingly difficult drive problem

And they are enormous, and about half the output I need. I've used them in prototypes on other projects, but I need a driver IC like the ZXLD1360 from Zetex, only much higher efficiency. The 1360 is what I'm using now. It's nicely small, but efficiency is low. Page 9 of the data sheet...

    Surprisingly difficult drive problem

I need to drive a single Osram Golden dragon IR emitter, with controllable intensity, from "off" to full power. I need it to run from 5V - 10V input. I need the intensity control to be relatively simple, like a variable resistance to ground. Now the kicker: I need it to be efficient...

If anyone is interested, I can zip up the results and email the raw data. You can download the CBA-II software from WMR for free and look at the data.

    123 Battery Shoot Out

PS: Talking to the Mountain West guy, there is a firmware version in beta that does zero current (external load) and constant power discharge. Our load will be more or less a constant power load. Twelve switching power supplies, and a sustained load of over 10W from three cells, down to a few...

    123 Battery Shoot Out

Nice! Much better artwork, and the name is a little less "schlocky" :) Frankly, I did NOT expect the PowPower cells to perform so well. I will be recommending that for one type of use, we use one of the big three, and for the other type of use, we use the PowPower cells. Shoot me a direct...

    123 Battery Shoot Out

I just finished my own little shootout, using the west mountain CBA-II. I tested Duracell, Energizer, Maxell, Panasonic, Powerizer, PowPower Titanium, Sanyo, and Tenergy. I tested at 0.7A, 1.5A, and 2.2A which are ranges that make sense for my project. I set the cutoff at 1.6V, again this...
