    DIY DVD Burner Laser (Video)

Re: Oh my - this could be bad I would suggest taking a look in the laser subforum. Similar builds have been done and posted about there. Take the time to read up on laser safety while you're at it, I get the impression that you are underestimating the power of a laser like this. edit: My post...

    Damaged eyes?

*raises hand* I even find it uncomfortable to look at the dot from a 5mW greenie on a white wall. I have one 5mW and one 21mW, they have only been turned on for a handful of minutes when they were new. Now they're just collecting dust, I just don't want to take the chance. I hope your vision...

    daveslasers.com?

I've never heard of them. And judging by the site I wouldn't trust them. Looks like a 10 year old kid made it back in the early 90's. Searching for the name in google only turns up adverts, no comments from other forums or anything. Also, someone named laserdavid posting about a site called...

Just got an email from Luckyduck. They are having a BOGO free sale.

Yeah, what's up with that... Here are some clean links instead: Luckyduck.com LuckyDuck APC Jasper Now Jasper Always Jasper Curve

    Just purchased a green laser.

He'll probably put a small note on it with a power measurement. Atleast he did on mine (around 21 on mine) and I've heard others getting them aswell.

Small pointer powered by single AA or equiv., is there such a thing?

Well freezing it sure did the trick. This is what I found inside: This is one of those lasers linked to up there that look like it is jammed into a flashlight host. The white plastic cover is really glued on there, I put some pressure on it and it started to rip the PCB apart. Output...

Small pointer powered by single AA or equiv., is there such a thing?

Wow, now here's an ancient thread brought back to life :p Yup, they have been linked to in the thread and I actually bought a couple of them. Not exactly stunning quality and they are much bigger than they need to be IMHO. They are the same diameter as a Gerber Infinity and a bit longer. I've...

Protective eyewear , where do I get it?

Someone posted this link a while ago regarding the Barr and Stroud goggles: http://forum.wickedlasers.com/viewtopic.php?t=785&highlight=barr I have a pair myself and they do block most of the light. With my 20mW pointer I can only see the spot and that spot is quite faint.

What product do you want to see?

Side by side would be great. I don't carry my lasers with me at all due to the shape of them. Either a side by side configuration or perhaps powered by a single CR-123a (if they could handle rechargeables that would be a huuuge plus). Continous operation (with a constant on switch. Click for on...

    Any info on this Laser?

Here's the bigger images of the small ones that were posted. Still a bit blurry but better than the thumbs :) edit: Looks like just one of the images were any larger really. Would you mind sharing your personal thoughts about the unit itself. Does it feel well built and such? I've been...

    Just got my Greenie!!

Congratulations :) I'm gonna go ahead and be a bit boring by saying "be careful!". At that power you should really start to be extremely careful when shining the laser around.

I suggest you read the sticky about referalls.

An affordable laser for the everyday guy!

Sounds to me like you just feel like having some fun and killing some bugs... Are you going to chase them down one by one? More ants from that population would probably die from natural causes in the same time it takes for you to fry them. And if you have a laser powerful enough to zap an ant...

    axis laser diode

I'm sorry. I misread your post a bit. My understanding was that it wasn't quite as bright when you used the power supply (which had an output of 3.2V) as opposed to using batterys (with an output of 3V). Sorry if I got you confused :o

    my leadlight is acting up

Personally I don't think it's such a good idea to start pulling on something that has already started to become lose, but maybe that's just me hehe. If you do want to give it a pull how about just using some heavy wire with a loop in the end. I would be careful though as you might be putting...

    axis laser diode

I'm far from an expert so I might be completely off with this but I thought I'd post it anyways just in case before someone more knowledgable shows up. If laser diodes work anyway similar to LEDs it's not so much the voltage as the current that you have to watch out for. The fact that it's...

Bodged together 2-stage pill for pen laser

Hehe. Handy when handing it over to people that don't understand that they can quite literally go blind if they're not careful. Also, when using it indoors (actually USING it ;) ) you don't need the full power so it's nice to be able to tone it down a bit. But yeah, I get your point ;)
