Sign-up thread for the MillerMods high power Arc AAA Cree XR-E mod

Hi, Eric. Just like to re-express my interest in the ARC AAA mod: 1x 2 stages, P3 (WC or any cool bin), 1 watt and 50ma low. If we have Q3 in the process, I love to upgrade mine to that too. Thank you for all the work! :)

    Little Green Giant

Bogus, Great! Saw that on HKFF, and posting here again. :) I'd suggest using the artic alumina grease instead of gluing all the stars down, if you would like to reuse the heatsink for more powerful stars/emitters in the future. And by all means, show us the light in out next gathering...

Dummy Reference Guide to modding ARC/Peak AAA light

Dummy Reference Guide to modding ARC/Peak AAA light Hi, all. It has been a very long time since my last dummy reference guide, and just like to contribute and share my latest modding experience with everyone--modding ARC AAA. To give a very brief history, ARC AAA holds a very unique...

    would this solitair mod work?

LG&M, That is an interesting idea, I'd never tried this config, but only tried putting a TT1L bulb with 2AA alkaline/nimh in a minimag. I think one of the main concern is whether the small reflector will have enough length to get the bulb in focus and also one will need to drill out the...

    Introducing "Draco" - - - PART 2

Hi, Modamag! Just like to confirm about my order, everything is correct except I ordered the two CC board for both my lights instead of the Flupic. The balance is 0(correct). Thank you for your time, and looking forward to these lights! :)

Will a camless reflector work on a stock maglite?

Scott, Not too sure about where could one still get a metal cammed reflector(maybe FM?) or CPF dealer lightedge?), but for a camless reflector, it will not work in a stock maglite since the light will need the cam to help it focus. Hope this help, have fun modding. :)

Help me design my Custom M@g!

Lukestephens777, Go to the sandwich shoppe website: http://theledguy.chainreactionweb.com/index.php and there you should be able to find the spec and the data(and wiring instruction) about the Downboys(buck board) and Badboys(boost board), depending what kind of battery setup you plan to use...

    Minimag turbo-head/hotwire kit problems

Simon, I guess I am already too late to respond to this thread, but yes, I have the same dilemma when I first got the FM turbo head(the first batch), and at the time, the hotwire kits were not even out yet and for some reason, it will not work with any kind of sandwich/lux product either(which...

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

Matt-man, Happy to see it works for you! And I can promise you the GID powder will definitely makes it even cooler! :naughty: Btw, not to sound too much like an ad(which it is anyway), do check out Oregonshooter's A2 standing tailcap--I personally do like it a hack lot better than the...

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

Jim, I remembered hearing people who had used bigger resistor to solder onto the ring(for the ease of soldering), but the stock ring use SMD resistors which are quite small in size. The wattage of the resistor should not be a big issue since the current flowing thru is not that much. For...

    DIY HDS EDC upgrade

Thank you again to Henry to clarify all the doubts in mind, and everyone's input. And I too do agree with Xochi for the comment, in terms of appearance, HDS series might not be the 'best looking' light on earth, but it is definitely meant to be a workhorse EDC light with no doubt. Personally...

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

Jim, When it comes to EE, I am dumb as a post to say the least. For the SF A2, each resistor is soldered next to an led, and each of these sets of led/resistor lies parallel to each other. So if we were to take the full advantage of the THC3 red leds, and drive them at spec(2.4v...

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

I remembered once the question was raised about the difference between the THC3 and old SMJ, and IIRC, they are virtually quite similar in many aspect. I too would love to see any actual difference bewteen this and the new SMJ. Please do keep us posted. :)

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

Hi, Jim. The link didn't work for me, but I am guessing you are referencing to the 5mm Red THC3 LED? The unfortunate thing is I am not 100% what is the spec for the factory SF red led Vfs, but I am guessing it should be around 3v? And these THC3 red seems to have lower than usual spec of...

Dummy reference guide to SF A2 modding with MJ led (or 35k 5mm) leds

Curtis, Sorry for the much belated reply, just read your post now. :awman: The green GID did shine really bright at first(you could even read with it for the first 5 min), and eventually dim down. But it could still be remain noticeable after at least a few hours to dark adjusted eyes. The...

    DIY HDS EDC upgrade

CM and Xochi, With no doubt this is one of the most informative thread about HDS modding and how it works, and probably the reason why I went and got myself some HDSes. :) Being an EE dummy, I knew next to nothing about how exactly this sophisticated equipment work...but just not to get the...

Okay..Having troubles with Mini Mag mod (Mc18R behind a lux III and an SMJLED)

Garageboy, As Greenled said, the McR18 is a direct drop-in which will not need any work done to the reflector to fit in a lux mod for minimag. The only thing to improve, is to add in an o-ring to keep it from 'wandering around too much'. (for the o-ring size, I don't have one handy, but check...

    Terralux, Badboy, Madmax..

Pydpiper, I too would agree with Greenled and think that NiteIze(or better yet, Newbeam opalec) will be a great upgrade for the kids since they are not all together too bright to cause any eye damage and good enough to navigate around. And within the budget, the Terralux TLE5(new model, not...
