light force 240 XGT mod help.

:welcome:rustybox. IMO the 240s should not have embarrassing performance at all.. Maybe you have used too small wire gauge or some resistance problem on the contact points. It also matters if the car is running, i have a hand-held blitz and one can clearly tell the difference. Standard bulb is...

Build thread of my 55w HID spot Pics Added

Re: Will plastic reflector melt? Depends on the reflector material and the coating i guess. I have a 50W HID running in a plastic reflector that does only get warm, even with long runtimes. But i also melted one with only 35W in about one minute. Was actually funny to watch the beam pattern...

    Streamlight HID LiteBox

A $700 HID light with a SLA battery? That is like combining stone age with modern technologie, just as useful as mounting wooden tires on a sports car

Can you leave a Powerlight recharging?

No need to run the battery down completely, just charge it whenever you have used it. To get the maximum life out of the battery and the bulb you should store the battery about half depleted and avoid short runtimes or even strobing with the light.

    Lightforce RM240 Blitz HID mod

pelks, i also converted a Lightforce SL240 to 50W HID and used a bBallast from www.xenlight.com With a 10Ah LiIon battery it is still quite light and runs a few hours on the low power setting.

You can rent a maxabeam, but not exactly cheap i think. Maybe a dealer sents you the filter to try out for some fee?

AE PL 24 vs HIDXtra 24

I wouldn't second that. First, they are two different classes, brightness and size wise. Sure the X990 is (much) brighter, but the two hour runtime of the PL24 is nothing to sneeze at. Beam quality is not great on the MC, not in flood and not in spot mode. PL is better, but still leaves...

AE PL 24 vs HIDXtra 24

Look here and use the search for more info. Conclusion: The AE Lights are better but more expensive

    MicroFire K2000R Review

Re: MicroFire K2000R Preview Unfortunately not, the shorty uses a 3s1p pack, and it weighs 175g, so there is no way there are four cells inside (180g), although they would fit! Exactly my thinking! the AE switch/endcap alone is the length of an 18650 cell :(

    MicroFire K2000R Review

Re: MicroFire K2000R Preview That_Guy, i also found this graph and was happy, until i realized that it only covers the first eight minutes. "1800 lumens max/40 minutes and with extended 30 minutes burn time lower than 1800 lumens" doesn't sound too good, IMO. The AE Shorty gets one hour full...

    MicroFire K2000R Review

Re: MicroFire K2000R Preview Is this supposed to be fully regulated? My guess it that the small ballast is not regulated, just like the MiniHID.

    Is this a HID?

Metal halide is NOT more intense then XSA. Typical D2S is around 6000 cd/cm², XSA starts at 20.000 cd/cm². The Osram XBO 2000W is 80000 cd/cm².

HID lights going out under vibration?!

I use a 50W ballast from www.xenlight.com It is only possible to knock out the arc when the power setting was coosen as low as possible. and then there is some force required, it never went out under use, but then, i do no bike races :)

HID lights going out under vibration?!

yes, it is known that the arc can be "knocked out". usually not a problem unless a bulb is driven under the designed wattage. I have a 50w light that goes out when i knock it on the table, but only when dimmed to 25W.

    230V charger for X990?

I don't trust the integrated charger any longer, destroyed one of the batteries, and of course they are not covered under warranty. Now i use an universal charger.

    Costco HID vehicle mount?

There are adapters for the McCulloch, that works just fine. I measured about 12A some time ago, but witha cheap DMM, so amybe that doesn´t say anything.

    Dimensions of D2R and D2S?

they produce the same ammount of light, only the coating to reduce glare blocks some of the light. One can grind away the coating to make a DS from a D2R!

Help needed from owners of Maxabeam/Supernova.

That depends REALLY on what you need (or only want, maybe) SF M6: quite small, good output, relatively short runtime. beam is a good mix of throw and flood i think. X990: Large, huge light output, two rechargable batteries give ~70 minutes each. beam pattern is adjustable from flood to wide...
