    As tight as possilbe. These optics throw wider and much more diffused than reflectors. The 10deg optic will give you usable light out to 30deg! Avoid the 25/45deg optics unless for some specific reason; say you only ride on twisty forrest trail. One thing to bear in mind if you havn't heard...

    AT 35mmOD 30MM ID your wall is only 2.5mm (not a problem in itself) but when you take into account you want 2mm deep fins that only leaves a wall at the base of the fin only 0.5mm thick. It's too thin for aluminium. Go to at least 1mm so presuming your OD is fixed at 35mm make your ID 28-29mm...

    We've done a few minor re-designs. Much more fins cut using an indexing plate on the mill and a MUCH better slug that recesses the LED's and driver. contact area is huge now with the case. The anodising kit was set up in my garage and we anodised the first assembly...looks superb. Details...

    OK I just checked my 5S Li-PO graphs against some XP-E Vf's and it really would only be out of regulation on the 2 LOWEST power settings for only a few minutes. Of course if XP-G Vf is significanly lower than the XP-E......it all gets a bit speculative now.

    So now I guess it really just comes down to whether or not the maxflex can handle the total power. I'm sure enough heat can be drawn away from the board through a heatsink that connects the Maxflex heatplane to the lightcvase chassis - that would also give you a way of attatching the board...
