    Power camcorder from 2S li-po

Hello all. As i'm no member of a camcorder forum I thought i'd try here! I have a Canon HF-11 camcorder. It runs from a smart li-ion pack rated '7.4v' presumably being a li-ion 2S battery. 3rd party bateries are rubbish, so i'm wondering if I can retro fit an external pack in place of the...

    2 maxflex 1 button.

Has anyone tried controlling 2 Bflex or Maxflex drivers from just 1 switch? for instance say you wanted to control 2 separate banks of LED's with just the 1 push button switch connected to both drivers in a dual headlight system? The idea is so save pressing 2 buttons to change levels etc..and...

Help me calculate LED Junction temp

Hi I have all the figures but I don't know quite how to put it together to calculate a realistic junction temperature. My stabilised aluminium heatsink (old CPU heatsink) temp: 45deg C (with a big fan pointed roughly at it) LED board 7up cutter XP-G R2 at 1000mA (23W) stuck directly to...

    Oil cooled LED

Hi guys ther does appear to be a small amount of misunderstanding. Take a light case, any case with fins etc......Fill the front end of the case with oil and seal up. That is the end with the optics LED's mounted on MCPCB etc...Seal up any holes to the back of htecase ie that wires pass through...

    Oil cooled LED

Has anyone tried or thought of filling the front end of an LED light with oil to cool the LEDS? Obviously it would have to be sealed well from the back end round cables etc...but if it was possible and any case design is good so that the residual heat is still dissipated to the air then it would...

    maxflex5

Dude how much are you using !!!!!!?? I bought a 3.5ml 2 part tube of arctic alumina 2 years ago for £8 and it has served countless projects!!

    maxflex5

Yellow, a while back myself and a friend argued endlessly about this point, delving into datasheets for artic alumina epoxy vs paste and on paper it all looks good - the paste should conduct heat away faster. Well, we eventually tried both and it made absolutely no practical difference to the...

    MC-G on the cards?

I'm ressurecting this thread to ask the question from another viewpoint: What was the time difference in months between the XR-E being released and the MC-E being released? I'm conviced Cree will make a 'surprise' announcement about a quad die XP-G around march 2010. Marco.

    hyperbuck preview

You don't ever stop for breath George!!!!! I'm curious since you've designed the Hyperboost and now hyperbuck in quick succession are you going to flex them? Has there been enough demand for a flexed version yet? You mentioned issues with size for the extra componentry before I think...

    My latest light

Hi Luminous. What i have found with all my 1000+ lumen lights is that the hot part of the beamshot at these settings is exposed slighly more than in real life. However the light at the periphery and further down the trail is actually LESS exposed in the photos! I have a theory on this (I'm...

Quad XR-E Still the king of throw.

It might just take some time for the optics to filter down into the market. It would be interesting to see what would happen if you mounted 4 XP-G's in the same position (direct to aluminium) as the 4 up cutter narrow and put that optic on the front. It may involve removing some of the back...

Quad XR-E Still the king of throw.

Having now seen many beamshots from XR-E / XP-E/ MC-E and XP-G it would seem that the quad XR-E R2 with a cutter 4deg narrow lens is still top dog when it comes to throw. (I've got this in combo with the 14deg) The only one that seems to come close is the ledil Iris MC-E but I think you would...

    18650 Questions.

Nearly all power hungry commercial electronic devices are either 2,3,4 or 5 cell li-ion and they only have simple 2 way DC jacks to charge them so how could this be the case? Are you talking about 18650 cells only?

    18650 Questions.

After much digging around I think I can answer most of my question but a few are still outstanding. 1. Yes. 2. Yes, butcutoffs differ between manufactures - some not even working. 3. Yes 4. Usuallly O-C 5. Use both as Vcutoff on flex is only for whole string. 6. Still not sure about this 7...

    18650 Questions.

I'm trying to understand how the protection systems work in an 18650 both in discharge and charge. I can't seem to find the answer here. 1. I presume unprotected cells are just 'raw' 3.7V li-ion batteries with no other circuitry? 2. Does a protected cell go open circuit if the voltage drops...

    First build help.

As tight as possilbe. These optics throw wider and much more diffused than reflectors. The 10deg optic will give you usable light out to 30deg! Avoid the 25/45deg optics unless for some specific reason; say you only ride on twisty forrest trail. One thing to bear in mind if you havn't heard...

    First build help.

AT 35mmOD 30MM ID your wall is only 2.5mm (not a problem in itself) but when you take into account you want 2mm deep fins that only leaves a wall at the base of the fin only 0.5mm thick. It's too thin for aluminium. Go to at least 1mm so presuming your OD is fixed at 35mm make your ID 28-29mm...

Maxflex and 7up XP-G too much?

Excellent. I'm glad it runs at 1A with the Maxflex. It looks more floody than the XR-E but more throw than the MC-E . I'm looking at your other beamshots just now here and on MTBR for comparison. It seems the light is somewhat warmer than WH. Actually I've also just looked at your 4 MC-E with...
