Can I say Goodbye to my flashlight?

Welcome Cimerio! That's a tough one. I echo Jon's comments, you can try cleaning it with alcohol. At this point, it's a learning experience. I've held many a dead flashlight in my hands done in by alkalines (alka-LEAKS) over the years. For your next light, you're all the wiser the next time...

Streamlight Protac HL 5-X Bezel diameter same as Mag

Coming back on this, realized something very interesting. I have an airsoft-clone-quality 2.5" flip-up diffuser that I originally got for an Olight M31. It fits over the Maglite bezel guard. I removed the rubber liner to the diffuser and it's a perfect fit. It's a handy accessory for camping and...

    Mountain Electronics - SCAM….?

MTN Electronics has always been trustworthy. I've been ordering all kinds of parts from them for years, always good reliable service. On the rare occasions when I had an issue, they responded using the "Contact Us" form on their site, though not always instantly. Have faith! Richard and his team...

    Best AA edc flashlight?

Love the Streamlight Protac 1L1AA. You can do the ten-tap to make it a single-output light or 2-level or 2-level with strobe. I love being able to make it a single-mode high output for simplicity. Can run on 1 AA or 1 CR123. Pretty handy and flexible.

what was the first led flashlight you owned?

I think for a lot of us, our first LED was the little coin-cell squeeze lights. I remember my P60-size drop in, the G&P 3W. That thing put out some serious bluemens back in the day. I still have it rolling around in my Surefire parts box.

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I rescued another Blackhawk Gladius from that popular auction site to feed my addiction. 🤪

    Anyone edc a surefire?

The Surefire L2 is awesome! I had one for awhile. Great light to keep in your bag as it's good at just about everything. My work bag used to be a Maxpedition Sitka before I took to carrying my laptop all the time (now it's a Hazard4 Switchback, same sling-style, but larger and with a built in...

    Anyone edc a surefire?

That's pretty snazzy! What clips are they? I could use one for my 6P.

    Anyone edc a surefire?

The light from an incandescent bulb originates from a single point, and shoots light in 360 degrees in a sphere, and the reflector gathers it from all angles and shoots it forward. When we stick an LED on a little stalk and slide it into the spot where a bulb was, the little dome on the LED...

    Anyone edc a surefire?

Surefire L1 Gen6. All day, everyday. - Two stage tailcap: An elegant solution to the idea of multiple modes on a light. No clicking, no wondering what mode will come on, did I click once or twice? Mash the button = full power. Gross motor skill intuitive. I keep it unscrewed until a full press...

Streamlight Protac HL 5-X Bezel diameter same as Mag

I am a fan of the side switch for a light this big. Decades of Maglites have me conditioned to find the side switch quickly. My friend lamented no tailswitch on his, I'll let him know the HL4 one fits.

Streamlight Protac HL 5-X Bezel diameter same as Mag

Got a Streamlight Protac HL 5-X for my birthday / Christmas present since I'm in the December Birthday SHAFT club. :) I like Streamlight stuff, for $100 this is a pretty nice solidly build blaster. Recommended it to a friend who took his chaperoning a scouting trip. Amazed all the kids and he...

    Rotary Cr123/AA flashlight?

I noticed that too. It's so close! I had occasion to try to tailstand it and no dice. I will say, if you want to mess with it, there's a plastic ring inside the tailcap that can be unscrewed with needle-nosed pliers. As always, be careful. I don't have mine handy, but you could see if you can...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Bought myself a Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA light to take on a work trip. Worked perfectly, kept a CR123 in it. Was nice to have decent kit with me with AA cell flexibility. I decided to take a newer budget-friendly light that was still capable and I wouldn't be distraught if I lost it on a...

    Rotary Cr123/AA flashlight?

I picked up a Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA a couple weeks ago as a versatile light for a business trip. It will take a single CR123 or a single AA. No tube changing. Works well though not a rotary.

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

Great thread. Love what Mag has done and are stepping up and making all kinds of cool lights with multiple modes and high output. Gets a Maglite back to where a Maglite meant something. Still get hinky though about loading those big beautiful "D" cells in a tube given all the times over the...

Hi / Low Tailcap for surefire 9P ??

I had tried a Kroma tailcap on a P-series Surefire. It does have the high/low but I found it didn't have a good step-down to low, they looked pretty much the same.

    in search for 18650 flashlight

Hey buddy, Welcome! There is a spot for this exact discussion: https://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?135-Recommend-Me-a-Light-For That being said, your requirement for focus change in one light probably points to something with a sliding aspheric lens. Me personally, I like to...
