    Elzetta

You'll need the VME head for the Malkoff drop-in. But you won't regret the upgrade.

    Elzetta

Re: Surefire - it's getting harder to find P60-compatible Surefire flashlights anymore. Most common are going to be 3rd party clones - Lumens Factory and 5Mega are well-known sources, both excellent quality. As a note: if you use an M61xxx drop-in for your Elzetta, you'll also need a lens -...

    Lumens Factory E-series bodies

The missing piece, as you noted, are the old Malkoff-compatible heads, as the rest of the flashlight Elzetta still makes. Now, whether there would be enough interest to support launching a product line of replacement heads, I don't know.

    Has Your Flashlight Hobby Waned?

😄 I already have, by and large. Not necessarily on this forum, but on one or two others I used to frequent. I'll have to go through and cull my actual hoard as I learn to let go of the meaningless material stuff.

    Has Your Flashlight Hobby Waned?

Yeah, but then I changed the batteries. Seriously though, I started thinking about death decluttering, minimalism/optimism, and questioning why I was really doing things. And at the end of the day, I wasn't collecting, I was hoarding - or at least buying a short-lived emotional fix, rather...

Maglite came out with a new tactical light

I've only seen that issue twice - one of my guys had a mini-Mag on a belt holster. It kept turning on while we were working, but on the "bright" side, I could always pick him out in the dark. The other was when I neglected to lock out the tail cap before dropping a 6P in my pocket. Finding...

    Reliable flashlight brands

Maglite doesn't get a lot of love on this forum. They were relatively late to the LED market and I haven't been especially impressed with their offerings. I don't think it would kill them to release a MiniMag with a simple high/low UI and not trying to max out the lumens. There's also a...

Brah. How, in the hell, did he manage that?

Recommend me a Red LED flashlight for stargazing

I have the "Spot Lite" and the "Cosmo" - both on sale from REI; I used the manufacturer's website as a quick reference - happily, they're on sale there as well. I don't think OP could go wrong with any of the sale models sporting red light; I liked the Cosmo well enough to buy a backup while it...

Recommend me a Red LED flashlight for stargazing

Not strictly a flashlight, but a number of headlamps have red light options. I've been using a couple of Black Diamond models that ramping red light outputs, as well as memory modes so you don't have to reset each time. The Black Diamond "Spot Lite" is on sale for $20...

    Surefire 3P upgrade

The 3P uses the C-series head, rather than the VME - I think. Illumn has an M31LL variant, 219B - but you have to catch it in stock.

Free bump: G2Z and G3 arrived, exactly as described.

    Most carried light, only 1.

Yeah, if I'm being honest, my most carried light is whatever is on my keychain. Most of the time, that's a SF Titan. Now, I've got a Fenix E01 v2 and a Peak to play with.

Longest running on AA or AAA - LED light in low mode on the market in 2022 ?

I should also point out that extended power outages are still fairly rare - the horror stories of Katrina in New Orleans and Sandy in New York are still reasonably uncommon. Having some redundancy is good; having tools for both common and uncommon battery types is good. But at some point it's...

Longest running on AA or AAA - LED light in low mode on the market in 2022 ?

Eh. There aren't many competitors in the market as such, although you can find 9v flashlights on Amazon - experiences may vary about product quality.

My G2 in green had the original P60 module - which was a bit of a surprise.

    Fenix E12 V2

Single AA platforms seem to have fallen out of favor, sadly. The E12 is a solid performer, but I got spoiled by the E11's bezel twist; the lack of a memory mode is irritating for frequent use.

Also received the first shipment - very prompt and in even better condition than expected. 50 lumens listed seems underrated compared to the light in hand.

Longest runtime for budget single AA or AAA led light on low setting to be used in tornado shelter

Most AAA keychain lights have low mode options. And in a blackout or similar "near dark" environments, a little lumens go a long way. * The Fenix E1 v2 is fairly nice at 5 lumens for 25 hours; ~$10. * If you don't mind the wait, the Sofirn C01S goes for $8 and has pretty solid reviews.

    Surefire 3P

First one guy finds a near mint Z2 in a rubbish bin, and now your cousin stumbles across a *3P* while on a walk? Oh, the envy is real.
