The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Sun, As it was explained to me, that lack of a spring is precisely why, perhaps among other reasons, it isn't weapons rated. There is no shock absorption in the area you mentioned and I think you'll see cracked circuit boards after awhile if not very quickly. I'm not so sure these light...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Sun, My SureFire source says these lights ARE NOT intended for weapons. Fine for the everyday user but mounting them to a weapon is not what they were designed for. Perhaps the individual components are suitable but as a package, assembled this way, they are not. Not to say you couldn't...

Hello from Iraq - Need help deciding. Olight vs. Surefire?

:serious rant mode turned on: What is wrong with every one of you people who first jump into flashlight mode? The man is doing a dangerous job that few of you would do and not a single person, until post #17, does someone thank him for his service. You know, I signed on to candlepowerforums...

Yes you'd think so however that bombproof description seems to, based on the detailed product description, refer to the LED itself. It's described as virtually indestructible which is true of almost every LED. I Puffery.

    Waiting for the SureFire LX1...

As I posted in the GX/6X thread, I had the good fortune to speak with a SF employee about several lights and in particular the release date for the LX1. According to my source, the LX1 project has not been shelved. It's being worked on and I'm lead to believe that it's being tweaked and refined...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Yesterday I spoke with a different SF employee whose I identity I can't reveal and we talked a little bit about this series of lights and a few others. In a nutshell, these new lights are meant for the general user who is wants/might need the brightness and the dual output. The target audience...

    Malkoff vs New Surefire lights

It's apples and oranges. If you need the dual output then the SF is what you need. If you need single output I would stick with the Malkoff. SF, does not, equal the M61L in terms of full output over a long period in a way that's useful for me. The 200 lumen SF is for 2 hours and then it...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Today I spoke with an SF employee about these new X lights. I cannot reveal his name however I've known him for quite awhile and he's not a PR type but someone who has handled and played with these new lights. The Pro X models will toggle from High to Low and the others Low to High. The...

Custom SF question. (First post, eek!)

Hey, that's not fair. I suggested those lights first. I'm telling somebody what you did.

Custom SF question. (First post, eek!)

As I understand your sport it's kind of like an Eco Challenge type of race, no? If so, I'd think that weight would be at a premium and every little bit counts. I own a fair number of SureFires and the 6P in any form is a good light but itself or as a base for mods however, have you looked at...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

I'm not speaking strictly to this product offering but rather, in a general sense based on history, that SF does not release products during the year they are introduced or dates are pushed back if the model is even introduced at all. I'm not the person who coined the phrase "vaporware" and...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Supposed to and actual are two very different things as we've seen from SF. Sometimes it's much later than what you're told however sometimes it's sooner. I preordered a Garmin GPS with a early to mid August ship date per Garmin. Guess what? Vendors had it in stock for sale 2 weeks before...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

Actually, it's all a semantics a game in an academic sense. What does "manufacture" mean? It all depends on how you define it. Take for instance olive oil. When you go to the store you see bottles that have the words "Imported from Italy" on them which makes you think it's a pure Italian...

    What upgrade for Surefire Outdoorsman?

Ditto on the KX2 upgrade as others have said but keep in mind that to use the dual output head you'll want a clickie tailcap as well if you don't already have one. If you don't, the cost of the upgrades will likely be near the cost of a new light.

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

My opinions don't drive the technology and long before I posted (years perhaps) ALL manufacturers were developing LEDs. I can't remember the last time someone introduced a new incandescent bulb, much less one that was cutting edge or pushed some envelope. While I won't say the incandescent...

The SureFire 6PX/G2X Tactical and 6PX/G2X Pro Thread

The price point seems comfortable but also tends to squeeze out their other products as some have said. On the other hand, why would SF sell a G2 when the this new line is a far superior product for only a few more dollars? It seems fairly obvious that incandescent systems are going away like...

    General house/emergency light

Lately I've been bitten by the Malkoff M61 bug. It seems like his M61L (175 lumens for about 5 hours) would be more than adequate for your needs. You could even run this in an all Nitrolon G2 as your host. I too have a stick charged flashlight (Streamlight SL-20X) that works but it's so far...

It's your back so take what you want however when I do similar trips I take 2, maybe 3 lights. 1. Surefire headlamp. 2. Surefire E2L or E1L and if I'm feeling kittenish perhaps a CMG Infinity Ultra.

    9P And A M61 Will It Work

I have a first run M61 that I use in an original 9P and it works just fine. In fact, I was a little surprised to even hear this was a concern or potential issue.
