    I think Nitecore has some very compelling products. I'm sad they discontinued the EC & EA lights, but I can't speak to longevity, as my EC11 is only a few months old. It certainly works excellently, so far, and I have my eye on several others of their products.

    You might consider the E20 v2.0. Same as the E12 v2.0, but 2xAA, and adds a 350 lumen mode. Obviously, it’s substantially longer, but it’s a great light with as simple an interface as one could ask for.

    Whenever I need a dim red light in the dark to help preserve night vision. The EC11 is going to be my new EDC, replacing the Fenix E12 v2.0 I bought earlier this year. The E12 will go into my backpacking/camping kit, as for that purpose, I still prefer AA primary cells.

    My only other question is whether or not Keeppower's 36 mm long 3.0 V regulated RCR123A is too long to use in the EC11. It's only 1 mm longer than the batteries the EC11 is designed to use, the 18350.
