Thrunite is going to release a new lightsaber

My colorimeter says the HC20 is 4800K (x=.352, y=.368). It looks positively lovely compared to my ugly CW Sunwayman D40A that is a awful 7200K (x=.304, y=.312). During daylight hours now in the house it doesn't seem as cool as it did last night.

Thrunite is going to release a new lightsaber

Well, I can partially answer my own question. I received my "neutral white" TC20 yesterday. It's pretty cool. IMHO, it's at the very far end of what I'd consider "neutral". It's cooler than every other NW light I have. It's not as cool as a CW light, but it's not too far off. If it were...

Looking for a small keychain flashlight

FWIW, mine has about 6 months of life on my keychain. So far so good.

Looking for a small keychain flashlight

I've also switched to a TIP on my keychain. The 2017 CRI one. Previously I was EDC'ing a 4Sevens Ti Quark Mini (CR2) for many years.

So how would you compare that to a false prophet?

Thrunite is going to release a new lightsaber

Any idea on what their definition of NW is? 4500K? 5000K?

    Losing a flashlight stinks

Losing your EDC is an excuse to upgrade right? :twothumbs Mine is attached to my keychain though, so I haven't lost it yet.

    Olight X7 coming 15.9.2016 (3x XHP70, 9000 lumens)

Those might be spaced a bit too far apart. However, the problem is that lights like this are so bright now that they need like 6-7 levels to have a good spread of levels, but no one wants to roll through 6-7 levels plus a couple of blinky modes. So, they either space the levels too far apart...

    Noctigon Meteor M43

I had compared them from HJK's comparator before. Like I said, they're a little bit better. Flat top 30Qs from BG are $8.49 a pair with a coupon code found here: http://www.m4dm4x.com/, so four are $16.98 shipped to the US. The Sony VT6 are twice as expensive at $34.39 shipped to the US. So...

EC60VN Neutral White Vs. Acebeam EC60 Cool White Video Review + Beam Shot Comparison

I'm sensing an idea for your next video. I'd suggest doing it in your driveway instead of the house and not using your wife's favorite basket or any clothes she cares about. :ooo:

    Noctigon Meteor M43

They're only a little bit better and are quite a bit more money.

    Olight X7 coming 15.9.2016 (3x XHP70, 9000 lumens)

Why can't companies space their brightness levels in a reasonable fashion? From 3 lm to 300lm? Oh sure...

EC60VN Neutral White Vs. Acebeam EC60 Cool White Video Review + Beam Shot Comparison

Thanks for the review. The Neutral is much nicer looking. What Acebeam should be putting in the light in the first place. However, I think the light is too expensive. This is not a slam on Vihn, but Acebeam. $120 for a light with a so-so protected 26650 battery? :thumbsdow

New member from uk in need of some help

Punctuation and capitalization is your friend. Hopefully this helps someone else decipher what you're trying to say. By the way, there's no such thing as the right torch. There are right torches, but you need more than one since they all have different use cases. The right torch for one...

how much brighter can a led get?

As has been hashed out repeatedly in the thread already, the answer is not "a LOT". LEDs are already more than halfway to the maximum luminous efficiency possible. I read your post carefully the first time. Apparently I read it too carefully and responded to the words you used rather than...

how much brighter can a led get?

Thanks for getting all existential on us and trying to sidetrack things with nonsense mumbo jumbo. For your next act are you going to start pontificating how things traveling slower than the speed of light are actually faster than the speed of light because something travelling the speed of...

how much brighter can a led get?

That's totally incorrect. One of the two questions he asked was, "will some day we get a 1000 lumens per watt?" The answer to that is absolutely no. They absolutely are correct. He asked about luminous efficiency directly in the text of his post. The question in the topic, of "how much...

how much brighter can a led get?

Because the peak is likely around 350lm/W for a white LED with a reasonable CCT and CRI. There are commercial LEDs in the 200lm/W range. Cree says they have 300lm/W LEDs in the lab. There's not much further to go. Hence we're very close to peak LED. There's a physical limit when converting...
