    ShockLi 3500mAh USB 18650

How would you guys feel about having a bottle opener on every hand tool? In my experience, the more features that creep in, the worse something gets at what it was originally intended to do. Jack of all trades, master of none. YMMV

    ShockLi 3500mAh USB 18650

Surefire's built-in USB Liion rechargeable 18650 3500mAh cell is rated at 10A. Personally I don't think these USB rechargeable cells are all that. Maybe owning one for travel isn't a terrible idea, but for serious flashlighters, having any more than one or two is pretty silly. Imagine running...

    Battery Brands

I don't know for certain, but I think it is unlikely Fenix manufactures their own cells. They probably source them and slap a Fenix label on them. To determine if they're quality cells would require testing as HKJ tests cells, or for someone to tear the label off and see if it can be determined...

    AmazonBasics AA batteries

Eneloop (standard 2000mAh) and Eneloop Pro (2500mAh) will have the same capacity after 50 recharging cycles, but Eneloop will last through 2000 cycles if cared for, and Eneloop Pro are only rated for 500 cycles. And in my experience, the Pro versions are far more fragile; standard Eneloops will...

    AmazonBasics AA batteries

What ChrisGarrett said, pounding full cells with charge, also abusing Eneloop by running them below 0.95V to completely empty, and/or not allowing used cells to rest before and after charging, and/or dropping on hard surfaces, and/or allowing cells to get and stay hot without cooling, raises...

Old LiIon Battery voltage settling/drop after full charge

This is something I have never, ever seen. Every li-ion I have ever seen terminates at 4.20V, but after charging (after a day or longer) rest around 4.12V. Since 2014, and I not seen anything but this.

guide me on a battery tester

I think you're absolutely right, here, I just don't know what that might be where testing a cell as opposed to replacing a cell is more important. I can't say what they're using them for, but a friend of mine gets buckets of hardly used L91 from the surgeon his wife works for, because they...

guide me on a battery tester

We might be talking about apples and oranges and special situations compared to less special situations. I'm going to go out on a limb and talk about something I do not know much about, but when I have experienced primaries that test nominal resting voltage but are actually capacity depleted...

guide me on a battery tester

There is chasm of utility between "less accurate than" and "useless." A tester that provides resting voltage within 0.25V of accuracy indeed does just that. Resting voltage may not mean anything to you, but it reveals remaining capacity to those with experience and familiarity with their cells...

    Recharging for dummies-part deux!

If you mean where it lists "3V RCR123A," it gets a bit instructive, and underscores how sellers are confusing the snot out of everyone. There are sellers that claim LiFePO4 3.2V 16340 cells are RCR123A. There are sellers that claim Li-ion 3.6V/3.7V 16340 cells are RCR123A. But technically, the...

Orbtronic vs other brands of NCR18650GA

Both Japanese companies, Panasonic acquired Sanyo in Dec. 2009. Both produce NCR18650GA. Sanyo's version is made in Japan, Panasonic's version is made in China. Besides the superficial differences, they are effectively the same cell, both NCR18650GA.

    Sanyo NCR18650GA vs sony vtc5a?

Unless you need more than 8A-10A, NCR18650GA has 35% more capacity than VTC5A and can cost half as much. And if you do, I'd like to know, for what?

    Recharging for dummies-part deux!

No. Like I said, best to stop using "RCR123A" and instead use chemistry/cell size/nominal voltage, where nominal voltage --------------------------------------> charger termination voltage 3.6V - ICR = LiCo / LiCoO2 ------------------------- end charge 4.2V 3.7V - IMR = LiMn...
