    I HATE MY OLIGHT!!!

Olight i5T EOS is neat, here's a review. Two constant current modes, forward clicky. Brain dead simple interface, low and high. Can still be found in titanium. Of all Olight models, it's the only one I can stand. But it does have a plastic lens, which is pressed in and gets destroyed removing...

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

"Continuous discharge rate" is arbitrary and variable, calculated by dividing a cell's capacity in Ah by the hours it takes to deplete it. CDR, as you say, is whatever current load that is put on a cell, which can be literally anything, 0.2A, 0.5A, 1A, 3A, etc. The attachment you posted used...

That is lithium thionyl chloride. Read your attachments: "nominal voltage: 3.6V ... nominal discharge current: 4mA"

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

Fresh alkaline are close to 1.65V resting voltage. Under a half amp load, they'll start at 1.5V and drop below 1.4V within about 5–7 minutes. Under a 0.1A load they can maintain a voltage above 1.5V for about 35 minutes. HKJ's test/review of Duracell Ultra AA.

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

Yes, destroy. Maglite lamps, and I presume LEDs, are designed for alkaline voltages. I don't have any idea what Maglite LEDs do on L91, maybe nothing, but Maglite lamps are more fragile, have tighter tolerances. Two L91 can produce as much as 3.8V, and that will flash (i.e. flash for a fraction...

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

L91 have about 3Ah of capacity. They also have slightly higher voltage than alkaline. Two L91 will flash a Mini Maglite lamp.

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

My understanding is lithium thionyl chloride is for very low current applications, unlike lithium iron disulfide (Energizer L91) which can be used in high current applications. Also, they're pretty expensive. But you can use Liion for what you were thinking, 3.6V/3.7V rechargeable secondaries...

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

Can you link to what you're talking about? The only primary lithium D cells I am aware of are lithium thionyl chloride and 3.6V. FYI, PowerEx does not sell primary lithium D cells, and Imedion are PowerEx cells, but secondary NiMH, 1.2V.

Taking apart a recalcitrant 3 D cell Maglite

The best way to help with alkalines that leak and get stuck is by compromising. If the cells are brand new, and have not been used at all, critically not even a little bit, I personally would risk leaving them loaded in the light up to a year before pulling them. But if the cells have been used...

Scalloped tailcap for a Surefire needed

I've never seen or heard of a z68 in natural. Have you? I think they only come in BK and TN. There are no Scouts in HA NAT, afa I know, just black and tan. With a little color correction:

Here you go: z68 Defender style tritium slotted FWIW the Lumens Factory tailcaps come with a McClicky switch, which has less resistance and a higher amp rating than the stock Surefire switch, [email protected] is the highest I have seen claimed, but most say it is a 5A...

You may call it that, of course, but crenelations are not decorative. They are defensive and offensive, though as of yet, I have never heard of anyone employing them. Good luck with your hunt.

    Why do you EDC?

It's so ubiquitous now they show people using smartphones as lights on TV and in movies all the time, and it's funny because it's true: art imitates life. I don't remember what people without flashlights did in the dark before smartphones had LED flashes for their cameras? I'm pretty sure I used...

    Current "Best" RCR123 Batteries?

RCR123A is entirely ambiguous thanks to marketing. It can mean 3.7V Li-ion, 3.2V LiFePO4, and 3.0V Li-ion w/ limiting circuit, all the same size cell, 16340. Ignore anything that claims to be RCR123A and look at the voltage.
