First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

Given that I made this very point already which you chose to omit I'm not going to bother with the rest of your post nor continue to litigate the concept that interesting stuff happening in the lab is by no means certain to happen in a practical form on a predictable timescale.

where can I found a really dark place to test out flash lights in the Houston TX Area

I've only set foot in Houston a handful of times and never been to either area, but Addicks and Barker reservoirs look like they could offer relief from immediate streetlight glow and some long sightlines in places like this.

    State of the art, today?

Appears not to. But I'm going to speculate that the '70 models use 18650s and the '35 models 18340s. There's an indirect tell on the header of their LEGO flashlights page:

    State of the art, today?

Certain ... geopolitical ... events as of very nearly one year ago may have rendered Lux-RC difficult to obtain.

First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

It was for sure a long largely unseen crawl until the white LED in the public's perception suddenly appeared ~20 years ago and began to take over general lighting. But for all the talk about how the incandescent was a veritable flick of the wrist away from meeting LED efficiency when the...

First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

It's basic research at this point in time. Not like there are any questionable investment schemes around it or sketchy products on the market to beware of. To the extent I've got feelings about it I've never been fond of lower CCT lighting, but I doubt that any resurgence of immensely more...

First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

Been hearing news about this for more than 20 years now and have yet to see any real movement in the incandescent space. Like so many laboratory discoveries I do wonder if there were hurdles on the path to commercialization that have proven insurmountable. Two potential issues come to mind...

First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

I'm OK with the table, but I've read more than a few spec sheets, seen many runtime graphs, and operated several flashlights with thermal/timed stepdown. My deduction for both Turbo and High runtime values is that they hit the time limit once, step/dim down to Middle, then the light...

First time posting in Years and so disappointed to see manufacturers/influencers claim Turbo as the ratings

I long ago reached the point where I largely ignore top-level claims and evaluate a light based on the basis of a credible spec sheet as well as past experience. I no more expect a 3xAAA zoomie on the 'zon or the 'bay to hit 100k lumens than I do a reasonably well-executed 1x18650 to be able to...

When was the last time you actually needed to use a flash light for 7 or more hours

I do try to be considerate of my neighbors. I've got inverter generators that mostly idle along once all the loads have been connected and I'm making steady progress on the sound-insulated doghouse that will further cut down on the noise. As opposed to the neighbor with the new-ish automatic...

When was the last time you actually needed to use a flash light for 7 or more hours

When it comes to power outages my sense of ... romanticism ... on the subject has long since expired. If there's a prolonged outage during the workday I spin up the backup generators I procured a ~year ago and life goes on as normal. While the company has recently opened an office in the area...

When was the last time you actually needed to use a flash light for 7 or more hours

Outside of household projects I've had all of one situation where I've needed more than seven minutes of continuous runtime in the last ~year and few where I've needed that much runtime in a single day. The benefit to longer runtimes is generally a longer battery swap interval although I'm not...

Do you sleep with a flashlight attached to yourself

Big Puppers - whom insists on lying against me at night - will at the very least crane his neck to look at anything exciting he happens to hear, likely waking me. His interest in borking at all displeasing things has declined in the last ~year now that he's settled in.

    Hypnotical Annual flashlight show !!!!

There's a forum for this very topic. It's been more than a decade but I've attended a few DFW get-togethers of small to moderate scale. Propose a local/regional get-together, maybe something will happen.

SHOT show ... kind of ... serves this purpose, however getting a badge requires press or industry credentials.

Do you sleep with a flashlight attached to yourself

You are in a markedly different - and unenviable - situation than most of us and I do not begrudge that choice.

Do you sleep with a flashlight attached to yourself

Also no. If it's too pressing for a bit of fumbling for the nightstand flashlights with a tritium vial or low-power standby tailcap nor do I have time to switch on the overhead lights then I wasn't going to handle it in time anyway.

Was this the original inspiration for Anduril ?

At a certain point of forced simplicity a local minimum for all comers with the same constraints is all but inevitable. With the single-button exclusive UI where the only feedback is clicking and the LED(s) reacting there's only so much room to maneuver. The need to combine daily use functions...
