    185Mcd 240W UHP Build

I know how far my XSW 30 beam travels and the amount of light in the beam so seeing this comparison is quite interesting. The XSW 30 lamp is a pure Xenon fill and is running at somewhere around 450 Watts if I remember correctly. Or is it 420 Watts? What is the gas fill of the UHP lamps? I...

Does the lamp look like the same lamp as in the FF5?

New "High End" HID Flame Throwers..?

Will be interesting to see if the lamp is of a more "standard" size with the higher power output quoted. The original lamps are fairly small.

    New Firefox FF5GT

If refering to the Short Arc version, this was a year back or so and the ballast or lamp failed after 2 or 3 ignitions and short runs. so no chance to do any evaluation.

I wonder why they didn't come out with the Short Arc Thrower version they sent me a proto of.

    New Firefox FF5GT

    That would be about a 10 Amp load based on 3.7 x 4 cells in-Series = 14.8 Nominal Volts. 150 Watts / 14.8 = 10 Amps. Plenty of 15 - 30 Amp capable cells out there so that's not a problem.

Remember The Thor HID Conversion Craze?

Yes. I open the back door and plug the batt into my FMA or iCharger hobby balance chargers. I have lots of other Lithium Polymer and LiFeP04 batts for other uses. On another converted light, I installed panel plugs in the back cover so I simplly run cables from the charger to the plugs on the...

Remember The Thor HID Conversion Craze?

I agree with all the great lithium points but....(always a but) the light has a built in charging system and wall wart in the case. For the non-battery knowledgeble, it's best to stick with an SLA. I have a 12.8V Nominal/8Ah LiFeP04 in mine. MUCH lighter and almost no self-discharge. And if...

Remember The Thor HID Conversion Craze?

IIRC, it came with a 7 Amp Hour, 12V SLA battery but you can find 9 AH batts in the same physical size and about the same price. The battery has standard slide-on spade terminals.

75 Watt Pichel Industries Rare Handheld Short Arcs. Military Quality

For continuity purposes. Linden indicates that in the original battery pack for the MiniNova, there was a large ballast resistor in the input power circuit. This would be the elusive current regulating device that I have always thought had to exist somewhere. Finally, mystery solved! I'll...

75 Watt Pichel Industries Rare Handheld Short Arcs. Military Quality

Hi Linden. Good to hear from you. You made a couple 14" reflectors for my ORC 500 Watt Gunfire Simulator Short Arcs a while back. Could I persuade you to make me a copy of the MiniNova manual? I'd pay all costs and for your time Does your MiniNova also not have a mechanism for focusing...

What happened to post and response?

Just wondering what happened to a new post by Mopar (I think) and then my response. My post count went up by one after posting my response but now it's back down so I don't think the post was moved.

    Dumb Battery Question

Have you looked at the FireFoxes FF5? A very good performing dual level (42 and 100 Watts ) and it uses high drain 18650's and is a conventional style handheld light. https://www.nealsgadgets.com/products/fire-foxes-ff5-hid-flashlight
