    Nitecore P20iX review

Latest review: Nitecore P20iX It's a very nice implementation of a multi-emitter setup in a compact head - and featuring Nitecore's dual-switch tailcap. It reminded me how much I miss an actual forward physical clicky switch. :) Here's a sneak peak at performance:

Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Max review

My latest review is now up: Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Max This is the 1x21700 version of the C2 Pro, very similar to the 1x18650 C2 Pro Nichia that I recently reviewed, but with a warm temp XPH70.2 emitter now. One thing that I have added to this review is a video showing the user interface...

    Acebeam X75 review

Yes, I would agree with that - my first thought when I saw it was that this would serve well as a headlight for a craft of some kind. But it is surprisingly feasible to carry it by the handle. Reminds me of the old portable HIDs, given the size and weight.

    Acebeam X75 review

Latest review is up: Acebeam X75 The light has monster output and throw, this class has certainly come a long way from my earlier reviewing days. Here's a teaser high runtime graph (additional graphs showing a blow-up for more resolution in the first few mins are in the review): Quite a...

    Convoy M21F review

My latest review: Convoy M21F Another strong performer from Convoy, again very impressive for the price. Here's a teaser runtime from my review: Sorry it took so long to get to this one, still going through the backlog of lights I picked up last fall.

Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia review

Yes, it was more an issue on the Max model I'm testing (on highest mode, which draws more current). But since you wind up twisting the tailcap more on these models more than typical (due to the charging dock, or when switching UIs), it seems that regular care maintenance is all the more important.

Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia review

Hmmm, interesting question. I don't test for impact or waterproofeness, but Armytek did offer to send me an extra sample for destructive testing (including impact). I declined because I don't have meaningful data for comparison testing to other lights. But they clearly felt confident it would...

Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia review

My first Armytek review is up, the 1x18650 Nichia 144AR equipped: Armytek Wizard C2 Pro Nichia I'm really impressed the performance and features of this light - this is the closest I've come to giving 5 stars under my new reviewing format. But the interface is a bit complex, with some...

    Acebeam E70 Mini

Given the unusually high standby drain I detected, I decided to retest this light. With my current DMM, I continued to get inconsistent readings up the value reported in my review initially (note that my standard practice is to go with highest value when this happens). But when I swapped in a...

    Acebeam E70 Mini

Here is the latest review on my flashlightreviews.ca website: Acebeam E70 Mini Following up my review of its big brother E70 model, this 1x18650 version of this Acebeam light features 3x Nicha 519A Hi CRI emitters (under a distinctive TIR optic). It has quite an interesting beam pattern (even...

    Lumintop D3 review

Latest review is now up on my flashlightreviews.ca website: Lumintop D3 I like the build and Anduril interface, but unfortunately the circuit performance (and max output/throw) are below expectations. Here's a runtime teaser from the review, showing Turbo (L8) compared to the next level down...

    Imalent MS03 review

Haha, yes, I know it's not that useful for such a short time. But still an impressive feat. FYI, I've just updated the review with weight measures. The MS03 weighed in at 120g without battery in my testing (192g with the included cell). This makes the MS03 the third heaviest light in my group...

    Imalent MS03 review

My latest 1x21700 review is now up on my flashlightreviews.ca website: Imalent MS03 Spoiler alert, but it actually meets its rated max spec in my lightbox (albeit briefly). Here's a blow-up of the max runtimes, showing you the first couple of minutes:

My (limited) return to flashlight reviewing

Thanks. I'm surprised to hear how much love there is for the videos, given I never got much feedback on those back in the day. I suppose video is a much more popular medium now than before.

My (limited) return to flashlight reviewing

We old timers need to stick together. ;) Yes, as a colleague of mine once said about my two reviewing hobbies, he found the ongoing whisky reviews incredibly helpful - but you know, he already owned a flashlight, so .... 😉 I never did get around to reviewing a LedLenser. I know there is a...
