    Maglite Mod

PVC pipe cut accordingly although rolled cardboard has been used before (not my preferred option). Permitting discussion related to acts of violence (albeit self defence) is a slippery slope the Forum I imagine would rather avoid... Acknowledging this is an incandescent forum (and I share...

Is there a CR123 battery drainer available [LED]?

Sounds like you need to check out THIS thread started by AOW back in 2009, essentially a 5mm LED installed in a P60 surefire compatible module  This is an example of Kestrel's interpretation of a P60 based battery vampire... you get the idea ;)

    4D Maglite /w P7 emitter

As this is the OP's first ever flashlight mod an even easier route would be forget the 4D format, buy the emitter & heatsink and direct drive off 3 D cells alkaline to NiMH will be fine, 3D Maglites are a better compromise between length & battery capacity IMHO but a 4D with a "dummy cell" would...

    5mm LED battery drainer

I don't have many primary cells to drain with the exception of the odd CR123a/AA cell, nice work guys very environmentally repsonsible of you (minimizing waste)!

    Max voltage for a P7?

I'm not sure that'll be a big enough heatsink! :D Bottom line... unless you intend to direct drive off 3 NiHM/NiCD cells you'll require some kind of electronic regulation ;)

I've also got the RQ Cree from KaiDomain and I'm very happy with it's build, performance & price, AFAIK the build quality wasn't as good on the P7 variants  Interesting Mod I must say... very tempting :D * If anyone's interested HERE is a review/comparison of the actual Raidfire...

My first mod...3D Mag P7 success!! (pics)

+1  Mine gets tossed around in the bottom of my work bag (in the back of the Jeep) and no issues yet! :D choaticwhisper that refelctor will fit the Maglite head BUT you need to modify it to do so... texture smooths out the beam but obviously cuts back on the throw somewhat ;)
