I'm not buying that for a second given my personal usage. Even 5 lumens of deep red light, supposedly the "official night vision saving" wavelength is less comfortable and more disruptive than .1 lumen of a 4500K in my experience.

I've been racking my brain thinking of a G7 setup for my SC53c N that addresses some of my gripes with the G5 ui and kind of operates somewhat similarly to how I typically use my other e-switched lights (Anduril 2, Olight, Folomov, etc.) Long press - 4.1 and .31 Click - 122 and 30 Double click...

    Andúril 2 UI

Illumination Gear has the aluminum D25a with the high CRI SST-20 (I forget, are links allowed here?) I'm honestly baffled as to how Eagtac has managed to avoid Surefire's wrath, but that's probably a story for another thread.

Where are all the 1AA flashlights these days?

Olight's i5R has a high CRI LED option. It has a weird USB-C rechargeable 2.4 volt proprietary 14500 included that's needed for max output, but it can also run on a standard AA (but not a standard 14500.) The LED is no Nichia, but is decent enough with a very nice optic. It's a simple 2 mode...

    Andúril 2 UI

That's the Quark Mini AA. They do still make an RCR123 Mini, but there have been QC issues that I'm unsure if they have been fixed. The original Quark Tactical I refer to has a rear switch and 2 programmable levels, one accessed with the head fully tightened and the other with the head slightly...

    Andúril 2 UI

One of the new ones or the original ones? If you can manage to get your hands on one of the originals with the head tighten/loosen UI, there's no debate, GET IT! The latest version is a pretty good light in it's own right and can be set up as a 2 mode (plus burst) light, but only medium and...

    Andúril 2 UI

I myself time to time prefer a nice, simple 2 stage light, my favorite being the original 4Sevens Quark Tactical's UI. Simple to program and you can push that tail switch as many times you want and not worry about going into another mode or reprogramming it unintentionally.

    Andúril 2 UI

Well here I am complaining about it. There's a difference between playing around with a light and getting unintentional modes in everyday use. Entering the Zebra into the programming mode isn't the problem, it's more of the mistimed clicks sending me into flashing mode or battery check. Say I...

    Andúril 2 UI

That's really a problem with any programmable UI or one that requires timed clicks, from Anduril, to Zebra, Reylight, Foursevens and so on. Amongst those, once I've actually set up Anduril, it's the one I'm least likely to accidentally get into an unwanted setting in normal day to day use.

Except with that analogy you have to commit to one full spoon of sugar each time with no in between. So you're either forced to 1 spoonful or 2 spoonfuls when you want 1 and a half. How is that better?

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

The entire point of a thread with a topic is to have a discussion about said topic. A discussion of Zebralight's UI compared to another UI is well within that realm. Discussing a Maglite switch would be off topic, unless it were in a comparison to the one Zebralight uses. You sir have made...

So because this is a Zebralight thread, people can only debate if that debate is pro everything Zebralight? You argued against ramping and guess what, everyone else came out of swinging just like you, except we're bad because we're not falling in line. "Some are getting annoyed." That's the to...

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

I have no more trouble with a ramping UI getting a desirable level than I do with a Zebra. I can't even count how many times since I got my SC53C N I meant to get it in one mode, only to mistime it and get strobe instead. Also, what if I'm in medium and want a high mode(in default Zebra UI)? I...

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

Oh, I'm paying attention. I figured one so fixated on knowing runtimes wouldn't just take the manufacturer's advertised runtimes as fact. You still didn't address whether or not you bother to time your usage or what you do if you use another mode.

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

So do you really intend on testing every mode with every battery yourself? Are you then going to time your usage? What happens when you use another mode? How are you going to factor that into the runtime? We may be terrible at gauging lumens by eye, but we don't have any problems gauging too...

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

Preset outputs are a compromise too though. What do you do if you need more output or runtime than one mode, but less than the next one? Not to mention knowing the advertised runtime isn't very handy if you have used any other mode on the same battery. You too are fooling yourself. Also...

    CNN flashlight review

I didn't read the whole thing, but I was glad to see him address the elephant in the room, something the average person seems to overlook as to why they should have a flashlight instead of relying of a phone's camera flash.

How to eliminate the strobe, only, on a Zebralight?

I really wish the slower strobe/flashing mode was just a little bit slower. As it is right now it's still a bit annoying as a non emergency "hey I'm here" flash IMO. I'd definitely find more use with it if it were, such as as a daytime bike flasher, especially as the sun starts to set and you're...

    The Official Zebralight Thread .

I just did my first attempt at programming a Zebra beyond just changing the sub-levels. Didn't seem as complicated as reading some of the posts on here made me think. I'm pretty accustomed to how Zebras function from the factory, so I don't see myself reprogramming myself and the light, so I...
