Test/review of Charger Xtar VP4 Plus Dragon

The thing I noticed instantly was that the Opus cannot charge D cells, I can do 4 of them at once in my VP4, I use D cells a lot. will it double up as a battery powered 5V USB charger as well? Can you test internal resistance with it? I`v had my VP4 for quite some time now and it`s used several...

    Primary vs Rechargeable

When you consider that Li-Ion batts are used in emergency defibrilators, I`d call that pretty "Life Critical", it may have been true once upon a time, but not any more ;)

    18650 Vs CR123

100% agree. You can even get P60 LED dropins that will cover a 3-9v range, so an 18650 will work or a pair of 16340`s, CR123`s, 16350`s giving you 4 battery types to work with. edited to add: if you do decide to use CR123 cells as a pair, make 100% sure that they are matched under load!

    Rechargeables!

    5) I use the Xtar Dragon VP4 Plus and it does just about Everything! though I am wondering what you mean about "precise charging"? I do my 16340s in it without a problem, but you need a special charger if you want to do LiFePO cells though. 4) I use Molicel P26a cells in most of my lights, the...

Ansmann Energy Check LCD - Professional Battery Tester

My new Ansmann arrived today and I`v spent some time going through my backup Lithium Primaries and it works perfectly! it would be nice if it did Li-ion as well, but my Xtar VP4 Plus will do those anyway so it`s not a problem. At least now I won`t have to worry about using Lithium primaries in...

    IFR16340 help

well at the moment I`v kinda got them as backup cells because they work really well with a 7.4v dropin as well as in my E04 and OTR M3 Pro.

    IFR16340 help

Yup, I`v found this to be true also. Without that diode idea I wouldn`t risk it, However I have found that a 6V P60 dropin will run quite nicely with an 18650 cell and still be around 3000k.

    reclaiming alkaline (and other) cells

actually solar garden lighting is the main use for the QX5252 that I use, just snap off the pin on the left (as it`s facing you) because you won`t be needing it, add an inductor and suitable led and you have an instant zombie light :) I understand where some of the above posters are comming...

Terminating LiIon (Co) charge the WRONG way - question

that`s a good question and I don`t the answer to it either, because other than tapering the current, it`s no different from charging it and putting it in parallel with other charged cells just like in a powerbank. And if tapering current were dangerous I`d like to know why as well.

    IFR16340 help

I`m trying to get to 6v or as close as possible with 2 cells, I`m not sure how I`d do the maths with 4.35 and another cell without mixing cell types. though 4.35 would light it up, it probably wouldn`t be a very nice beam.

    IFR16340 help

well I figured if I`m going to be doing this, then I may as well do it properly from the start, so I bought a charger for IFR cells as well. Worst comes to the worst I have several LED lights I can use them in so there`s nothing wasted. The batts I bought are by Poover here...

    IFR16340 help

I have a charger that will charge to either 3.7 or 4.2 if that`s any good? Ironically it`s the first charger I ever bought! :D

    IFR16340 help

Hmmm... seems like they`ll still be too much when freshly charged to run a 6v bulb module without popping it then :(

    IFR16340 help

I just bought some IFR 16340 (cr123a) cells and it says these are 3.2v batts, I`ll hopefully be using these in my P60 hosts because I refuse to buy single use batteries, but I have questions! LOL 1) is the 3.2v literal? as in that`s what they are when fully charged, Or is it like 3.7v Li-ion...

those sound pretty cool then, I might look into those myself in that case :)

    reclaiming alkaline (and other) cells

yeah I figured you`de have looked into it, but it`s worth noting that these things go from a perfect 9v to 0v instantly, there`s no 8.5v or such, the boost circuit simply cuts out when the LiPo cell gets too low, there would be no beep from anything.

    reclaiming alkaline (and other) cells

I`m sure everything you`re doing is fine and you`ve tested it, but Please be careful doing this, these 9v batts don`t run down like regular batts, they just go dead! giving you absolutely No audible warning from your fire alarm. it`s exactly the reason I can`t use them in my Psion projects, they...

    reclaiming alkaline (and other) cells

to be honest I would never buy another primary cell if I didn`t have to, and would never use an alkaleak in something I valued (unless it was a closely monitored experiment, such as the C01 testing), but sticking them in cheapo battery holders and trying all sorts of different zombie circuits is...
