What does a $150-200 flashlight get you these days?

You can get a decent light for every room in the house and each car.

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

I have a 3x AA LED Minimag go bad from alkaleaks. Destroyed the pill. I was able to get them out, but it's pretty much an empty shell now. It's the kind with the different tail cap, like a tiny D-cell. bykfixer, this whole thread has indeed been a pleasure. Maglite is the reason I love...

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

They should partner up with Panasonic and offer Eneloops with chargers and C/D cell spacers. I'm a bit mystified as to why they don't do it already.

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

It's possible they updated them with better tint LEDs, which often is a slight lumen sacrifice. Probably not noticeable in terms of brightness, but would offer a more pleasant beam. I'd be fine with it if that's the case. Oh, and bykfixer, thanks for the link above.

Single AA light with only low and high and no memory

That's a great light. A little low on lumens by todays standards, but it isn't bad. Mine sometimes comes on by itself when it's in my pocket for a while. Pressing the switch does nothing. If I remove the head and reconnect it, it's fine. Anyone else ever had this issue?

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

Yeah, I've read the same comments, saying they are "stuck in the '80s" "don't have LEDs" and "why don't they have tactical lights that use CR123 batteries?" These are people too lazy to look things up or are simply trolls. What this proves to me is that Mag needs to really work on customer...

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

I'd love to read a book about the history of Kel-Lite, Mag-Lite, Streamlight and Brinkmann. I'm sure it would be an interesting read. As for Rayovac batteries, I don't trust them. I've seen the big packs of AA's leaking in the store. I use Duracell Procells at work, but that's not my choice...

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

In their defense, there have been direct copies of mags, (Brinkmann 2AA comes to mind) so that probably got them in a litigious mood over the years. Plus lawyers love to find a reason to sue, legit or not. I know the light in question had virtually nothing in common with existing Mag models, but...

Will I turn into a Maglite fan once again?

I recently got a 6D incan model and put a Terralux (RIP) 1000-lumen LED drop-in in it. I totally didn't need the light, but I've always wanted the big one. It's my household security light now. I have an ML100 that I bought way back when they were new. It's only 137 lumens, but it out throws...

Maglite 4 D Cell brightness fluctuates

What brand of batteries? Also, just because you just bought them doesn't mean they are new. Sometimes stores have them on the shelves for months or years in some cases.

    Mag love or hate?

Love them, but mainly because they are cheap (enough that I consider most of their models as budget lights) and easy to mod. I will say they are doing a better job of keeping their products up to date, as the 3rd Gen 2/3 D's now have XM-L2, and even the regular 2D now has an XPE2. The Minimag...

    New Energizer tactical 1aa

I have three of these. Two of the forward-click. One of which has been pretty beat up, but still works. I have used a 14500 lithium ion in both for a while. It gets hot, but it works fine. I took a chance since the 2AA version seems to use the same emitter, so I figured they used the same...

Mag-Lite 2D LED (Not the 3rd gen) also got an update.

I was in Wally-World, and went to the flashlight section (of course) to see if they had anything new. I noticed the 2D LED on the racks, and something caught my eye. 412 meters. So I looked at the rest of the specs: 168 lumens, 42533cd, 6h45min. The LED is still small, but there is not green...

SHOW SOME LOVE FOR INCANS ! ! !

So, does anyone still make minimag hotwires? I'm wanting to keep one incan, but up the powah. I know some would say it doesn't make sense, as LEDs are so much better, but I've really been digging the beautiful natural light of ye ol' incandescence.

    New Maglite 3rd Generation 2D/3D - 524 + 625 lumens stock!

The newest Minimag Pro uses an XPG2, but looking at the photos as SimulatedZero said, it's appears to be an XML2. It seems to be a bit larger than the XPG, and along with the lumen ratings, I think XML2 is a safe bet.

    New Maglite 3rd Generation 2D/3D - 524 + 625 lumens stock!

You can find them in specialty shops. I saw some Tenergy batteries (2) and a charger for about $35 at Batteries + Bulbs. --- I'm interested in seeing how these lights are made. The different head makes me wonder if MI is sharing parts with the Mag-Charger, such as the cam tower or reflector...

    New Maglite 3rd Generation 2D/3D - 524 + 625 lumens stock!

The XML isn't really a thrower unless you have a really large reflector. And I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the XP-E still has more surface brightness, as it is so much smaller.
