Why do LED lights still suck and why do I still use incans or HIDs, your opinions or disagreements please.

This thread has a classic CPF feel to it. Some of the posts have that way back in time theme going. Love it. I still use incan lights from time to time. Warts and all. But with certain bulbs becoming rare as an honest politician, I use them sparingly. Yet my ROP still causes me to giggle like...

No. I was saying that as LED's began to compete with light bulbs, it was "LED's, why, light bulbs are great" Now it's "light bulbs? I suppose you still use a VCR too".

This, like past incan fan threads shows the pulse of the community. In the past most spoke of other great bulbs and their contribution with some saying "yeah but the LED is catching up". Then it was less about the bulb and more about the marvelous new LED's. Now it's "incans? why?".

How 'bout a round of applause for the ROP? It showed the LED what it could grow up to be someday. I miss minimoog.

To me the dgital camera aint as good as film, nor is digital music as good as analog but they're so dang convenient. Same with LED vs a lightbulb.

    Backwards in time

It was a few years back. If I recall correct I made a casual mention about vital gear and how PK was involved. "What?!? You're full of crap" type comments took place. PK himself chimes in and says "yeah that was a side project". Suddenly it was as if God himself had chimed in. A short time later...

    Backwards in time

I was speaking of the time I got flamed at the SureFire fakebook page for posting vital gear, like I was posting solar force or those 'trust fire' knock off's.

    Backwards in time

I was surprised that most did not know PK was the brain child of Vital Gear products. They were manufactured over seas though. They were not very durable. The clicky for example had a high failure rate. Their intent was to take advantage of the budding LED market so not a lot of extra bulb...

    Backwards in time

Not long ago a friend sent me a 1990 minimag, then a 1985 one. The craftsmanship that went into those is noteable compared to the later incan versions. So smooth to twist it on and off. Same with the tailcap. Those were some great flashlights.

    More Fun With Incan Legos.

Not for a long time. Lumens Factory is a place to obtain a P91-esque bulb module but extensions are as rare as an honest politician these days.

    Streamlight TL-2?

There were a few versions. Earlier ones had adjustable bezel to change the beam like a Maglite. It was ugly by today's standards but it was a cool feature to have back then. It could be had with a regular, fairly shock restistant module or the shock proof kind with an extra spring. Later the...

    Streamlight TL-2?

The TL-2 shock proof was pretty cool. It was said to be able to withstand being clamped to a 12 guage shot gun fired 100 times or more.
