    100W CHIP LED NOOB QUESTION

Perhaps. You are making a lot of assumptions, but you could certainly be correct. I would consider sure electronics the better of a bad bunch. People here have tested there high power leds even quite some time ago, and while they don't hold up like quality products from well known manufacturers...

    100W CHIP LED NOOB QUESTION

By by "power" that means "watts." But maximum power for an LED isn't the best indicator for brightness, which I assume is your main concern? So don't get too hung up on wattage. Lumens is a measure of brightness, if they supply it. Then you just have to be suspect for whatever ratings they...

    Regulate Car voltage?

How strange, you may have a problem with your charging system. Anyhow, A quickie fix is you can add a high current rated diode inline with each headlamp. Something like GI2401 to GI2404 for instance should give you about .8 to .9V drop. Here are some for less than a buck...

    Solder paste type

No kidding? Is it that high for all there items, or is it just this one? Perhaps they are sending it express, and keeping it cold? That would explain the expense. Otherwise, I guess that just doesn't leave you many options, does it? Too bad as I thought that would be more helpful to you. As to...

Help with t10 LED's for homemade underwater fish light :)

Those are all great points, thanks for bringing them to our attention! I have to say though, I have LED buggy whips that are encased in oil. Leds, a little phenolic resin board and some SMD resistors. They have been working trouble free for years. Been to the warehouse that assembles them too...

Help with t10 LED's for homemade underwater fish light :)

Good point with things swelling up. I don't think corrosion could be a problem though could it? If anything, just the opposite. Or at least with mineral oil since it protects the components from oxygen. Can metals corrode in distilled water? Incidentally, apparently even perfectly distilled...

Help with t10 LED's for homemade underwater fish light :)

Believe it or not, water doesn't conduct electricity. It's the impurities in water that do that. So yes. It will effect the optical qualities, but I don't see that being a factor in your case. I would assume if you chose mineral oil it would actually float, but I don't really know.

    4 LED + 2 AA Battieries possible?

And he was definitely wrong if he suggested wiring them in 2S2P configuration from two alkalines. As you have found, with the batteries in series and the leds all in parallel, they will light. In fact they will probably be just fine with no additional resistance at all, simply directly...

Help with t10 LED's for homemade underwater fish light :)

It seems to me what you are doing will work fine. As stated, electrically you are already wiring them correctly. Your question about wiring them in series, well you just can't do that without higher voltage to start with. These are already a pretty low end product so i can't imagine going to any...

Help choosing LED to use with no/minimal heatsink?

Let me know how you like the C513 in warm, I have been wanting to try them myself. Oh, just addressing something you said earlier, even though the led has a warmer color output, it doesn't necessarily mean high CRI. But the output should be a lot more pleasant. Also the regulator you look at...

Help choosing LED to use with no/minimal heatsink?

Yes, the cree CP41 is a cooler temperature led. I didn't catch that part of your requirement. The Nichia NSPLR70CSS-K1 would be a nice option, but they are pretty hard to source. Either you have to contact a US distributor and meet the minimum order requirement, or get them from a few of the...

most visible "purple" led, prefer low power

I am aiming for longer wavelength visible light, 420NM and above. And it will be low intensity and indirect viewing, so I am not too terribly concerned there will be harmful effects with this build. Thanks for the warnings though.

Why no 10W Cree RB led?

    Would ledengin LZ4-00DB00 be helpful? It's a 10W 460nm led, "dental blue" they call it. But I notice the Lux-M has wavelength of 445-460,Cree 450 - 465. http://www.ledengin.com/files/products/LZ4/LZ4-00DB00.pdf

Yes, the true violet listed at ledgroupbuy, http://www.ledgroupbuy.com/true-violet-led-420nm/ and the violet led listed at aquastyle, http://www.aquastyleonline.com/products/420nm-Actinic-Violet-LED.html And the one you link from Steves leds i am betting are all the same bridgelux led. Help choosing LED to use with no/minimal heatsink?

Cree CP41 series would be good for this application. Probably the 60 degree version but you could experiment with both. Include a 12V regulator and wire 3 in series with 62 ohm resistor. Put as many parallel strings as you feel you have room for, 15 or more leds would give plenty of output for...

most visible "purple" led, prefer low power

Need visible purple led for project. Prefer low power led, "superflux" or "piranha" package would be best. Trying to use "UV" listed leds. I bought 50 pieces of "5 chip UV led" for what I thought was a pretty high price, but I was convinced they would be what I wanted. They are listed at 410NM...
