Incoming - What do you have coming in the mail??

On the way are: a few Maglites, a KDLitker E6vn 21700 P60 host from Vinh, a Lumens Factory triple drop-in, and a couple of ventilators for my other light related hobby.

    Recommendations for 18650 cells?

You're probably going to get a similar list, maybe with a few additions from pretty much anyone that answers. I run a protected battery in any light that has the room for it. My edc light currently has an Eagletac 3100 in it from 3/2012, I'm sure there has been some capacity loss, but not that...

Incoming - What do you have coming in the mail??

It's been a while since I've bought any new lights. On the way are a Maratac Tri Flood Pro and a Maratac Rebel Throw, plus a bunch of 21700's. And since I'm in the mood, I am almost certain I'll have some more to add to the list soon.

    Why do you EDC?

I EDC things that I find a need for on a daily basis: flashlight, knife, pen... I work in facilities maintenance, so my flashlight gets used a lot, anything from searching behind someone's computer to find that usb cable that got pulled out, to crawling through a crawlspace or attic. Often...

    EDC/preparedness backup lights

My main EDC light for about the last 5 years has been a Surefire 6P, or occasionally a Malkoff MD2. I don't carry a backup on me, unless you consider the flashlight app on my phone a backup. If I know that I am going into some place that lighting is critical in an emergency, I will take an...

McClicky switch issues - does not click on

What kind of flashlight are we talking about? Have you tried tightening the switch? If it is something like a Surefire Z41 that has been modified with an Oveready/McClicky kit, just tighten the ring from inside of the tailcap with a pair of needle nosed pliers. If it is like a Malkoff MD2...

    what is your best flashlight?

My "best" light is the Surefire 6P that I have been EDCing for nearly 3 years. There aren't many things I stick with for that long, before this one I was changing EDC lights about every 6 months. It has held up quite well to my abuse, it gets carried in my left front pocket with my car keys...

    Malkoff McClicky Replacement Process

Both Illumn($6.90) and Light Hound($9.99) show Mcclicky switches as being in stock. I don't know how accurate their stock status is.

What did you use your flashlight for today?

This might get me banned... I didn't use a single flashlight for anything today. :fail:

    Malkoff McClicky Replacement Process

    1. This is for the newer style Malkoff tailcap. 2. Start by pinching the rubber switch boot with your fingers and pull it out. 3. Using a toothpick or maybe the tip of a pen or something, remove the o-ring. 4. Using a pair of needle nosed pliers with narrow tips, or some other...

How do you carry your EDC?

Inside left front pocket with my keys. For a little over two years it has been a modified Surefire 6P.

Incoming - What do you have coming in the mail??

I have two Malkoff lights coming my way, an MD2 with M361N-LMH and an MD3 with M31, I'm not sure if I will like the MD3 setup for a 2AA light, if not I will just get another MD2 body and an appropriate drop-in for it. Also have an Xtar VP2 charger coming. Thanks to the poster above, you just...

Boring out a surefire for 18650, or another option?

Unless something was changed recently, the Solarforce bodies don't have that lip. But if you are worried about it, you could find an appropriately sized o-ring or rubber washer and slide it down against the driver board to act as a bit of a buffer for if the batteries slam all of the way...

In the dark about remaining charge?

I don't particularly care for charge indicators on my lights, the ones that I do have or have had, have never been very accurate, usually they tell me that the batteries are dead very shortly after swapping in fresh ones, so I tend to just ignore them. If I am going out after dark, or if the...

    Show your beat up light.

Re: The Flashlight Abuse Thread / Which light survived what event? Probably once a week, I manage to drop my Surefire 6P in some spectacular fashion, like dropping it down a flight of steps, it has spent the night in the bottom of a sump pump pit, it spends it's days in my pocket with my...

    First purchase 2014?

My first purchase will probably be a new headlamp, I'm thinking about the new one that FourSevens recently released. Ah, what the heck, I'm gonna go order it as soon as I am done here.

Which model did you buy several times and why?

Re: Does Anybody Here Have Multiples Of The Same LED Flashlight? When I find something that I like, I usually buy a seond one as backup for if the first one gets broken, lost, or grows legs. When I find something that I really like, like the Surefire 6P and P60 lights in general, I have a...

You could have at least tried to find out what he thought was a better light. One of you might have learned a thing or two.:D

Test Your Gear Before It Tests You.

I don't set out specifically to test my lights, but I can pretty much guarantee that within a couple of weeks a light will get dunked in a puddle or sump pump basin and get dropped down a flight of steps or something, so I should know within a couple of weeks whether a light will work out for...

Incoming - What do you have coming in the mail??

As if I needed another flashlight, I have just ordered a fivemega Mag P60 host, two EDC+ X60L drop-ins, two chargers. I guess I should go ahead and order up a pair of 18650s for that light as well, if I am going to spend myself broke, I might as well have a working flashlight to show for it.:D
