J.W. Speaker Denouncing Low-CCT White Light?

What happened to Virgil and the other guy, Alaric something? Seems they havent been around to overly moderate the forum in a while?

    2022 Civic headlamps

The new civic is the first vehicle that i have seen that splits the low beam into 2 sections and has the high beam placed in the middle. Makes for an interesting and immediately recognizable light pattern at night but i was just curious how it meets regulations. The regulations state that "The...

Best/strongest Spotlight bang for the buck

Firefoxes FF5. 10k lumens and probably about the smallest light that can actually sustain it for a significant period of time. Or try something like the BLF GT94 or the Astrolux MF05 but those lights are pretty big.

    Power on board HID flashlight

You're are way behind the times man. There are plenty of LED lights than can maintain far more than 3-500 lumens for the duration of the battery and can throw just as far as HID and are handheld.

    Power on board HID flashlight

Yeah there arent any handheld flashlights that are capable of throwing 10miles. Even the Maxabeam doesn't come close to reaching that range. And there are quite a few LED flashlights that can maintain 3500 lumens for 70min or the full runtime offered by their batteries, but probably would cost...

Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view - New pics added!

Re: Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view Wow! I think you are the first person to do an independent review of it. Performance is disappointing for the price though.

    looking for a big light

The current budget reigning champions are gonna be the BLF GT4, BLF GT94, Astrolux MF05, and the Firefoxes FF5. Most of the smaller lights like you mentioned in the op cannot sustain those high output for any significant amount of time before overheating.

    Acebeam W40 and W50

This is by far the smallest light that reaches 4 million mcd though. I guess that would be the appeal of spending so much money on it.

Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view - New pics added!

Re: Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view No every bit of this is wrong. Nope. The dangers that come from given intensities are the same no matter the light source( not accounting for possible UV output from the short-arc). No this is wrong. If you have a short arc lamp like the Maxabeam...

Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view - New pics added!

Re: Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view I don't know where you got your specs from but they are wrong. The Maxabeam has a minimum beam angle of 1 degree, nearly half that of the W30. On top of this the Maxabeam is about 2 to three times as bright as the brightest currently available LEPs at...

Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view - New pics added!

Re: Acebeam W50 LEP flashlight first view I don't know how the W50 is made but all the other LEP lights out there do not use a reflector.

    Dumb Battery Question

What kind of work do you do? There are plenty of LED lights that can throw very long distances, dont use proprietary batteries, and depending on your use could save you a lot of money over buying an HID flashlight that tends to be very expensive. The FF5 that BVH mentioned is about the only...

BLF GT94 vs HID. LED has surpassed HID in my opinion.

Thats a really good point. Running these LEDs at high power setting I'm sure does decrease their lifespan but by how much? If I recall correctly the SBT90.2 is rated at 60000hrs. If the heat decreases its lifespan by 90% that's still 6000 hours or 3X the lifespan of HID. Also your point about...

    UV resistant coating for lights?

What are you trying to say and why the condesending tone? I never claimed this was some scientific test. All I'm saying is that I had 2 sets of headlights that I originally sanded and polished and afterwards they were clouding again in less than 6 months. I didn't have the money for new...

Yeah Ive found frequently waxing the headlights with a good wax is very good a keeping the haze away.

Can LED lights now throw at the same level as HID?

I agree, but when you are comparing 2 lights, and not changing the camera's exposure between pics, and one light is significantly brighter than the other, that's hard to do. The dim one is just about always going to be under exposed and the bright one over-exposed. I don't know how to solve...

Can LED lights now throw at the same level as HID?

I don't know where the idea that LED can't throw as far as HID comes from but everybody that has ever stated such never provided any proof that its true. There is however abundant evidence that LEDs are quite capable of meeting or exceeding HIDs for short durations of time. And with the release...
