    The Malkoff Front Porch

I’m just a regular defensive user but would argue the classic surefire twisty style switches (or gas pedal switch) that are tightened down on a washer/spacer which will give you momentary only with hand pressure, and can’t be accidentally turned on, is the most foolproof interface for a tactical...

    The Malkoff Front Porch

Makes sense. I am able to get a useable syringe grip with malkoff’s shrouded tailcap and a thyrm LPC, but it’s not as easy as the tricap or SF momentary type switches.

So with a taller boot it would just have more slack/air gap before it activated, and not increase sensitivity of the switch? Hopefully I’m explaining that coherently.

Does anyone know if I can get an extra thick boot for a malkoff mcclicky so the switch stands a little above the tailcap shroud?

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

On the contrary the 61SHO looks depressing compared to the incan, not because of output, but due to the low cri green tinted cool white beam. The incan has a lovely warm glow and shows things in their true color. Not trying to turn this into the incan forum, but at any rate the 61SHO rocks. I...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

As usual per night walks I like to grab an incandescent of some kind, tonight it was an e2e with pretty fresh batts on an mn03. It’s not a fair comparison to the 61SHO but I still really like how a bulb does much with so little output due to the throw. The 61sho does not have a nice tint...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

Oh it’s a great head. You don’t have to use the LiFePO4 cells though, it works great with a cr123 giving full output for around 45 minutes before tapering down.

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

At the park again tonight, still had the C2 with 61SHO in my pocket and I grabbed the E1 hyper throw to play with. 61SHO on a slightly used 16650, but I think it’s still got enough juice to be at full output. E1 hyper throw on a fresh LFP123 cell. Lasts all of about 18 minutes, but it’s free...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

I have become accustomed to carrying essentially a “batman” EDC loadout that covers all my bases and then some but it adds up to a lot of weight. I don’t really attempt to save weight and just carry what I like, but I am also young with a young back. As I get older saving weight on every edc...

    15 years of Malkoff

I was late to the game on all this stuff, but a while back I bought a new in package P60L just out of curiosity. I will say I’m glad it was cheap! Even with a minus green and a tint filter it’s pretty ugly. I’d rather just use a P60 bulb than that thing. Of course Gene has us covered with...

I did also try the 61SHO with two li-ion cells, swapped to them while standing there in the dark. The SHO seemed to have the exact same output with one or two li-ions so I didn’t see a need to take any pictures.

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

Round 2 of comparison was better this time. M91BN on two li-ions M61 SHO on single li-ion M61T on two li-ions About 35 yards to the bench. I don’t know what happened last time, maybe it was the fault of my pictures or a battery had dropped below 3.7v. The 61SHO compares more favorably...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

I don’t have any kind of testing equipment, but I do have the good old fashioned eyeball assessment. Tonight I should be able to do some more park walking comparo. It seemed to me like the sho was brighter on 6-9v than a single li-ion, but maybe 4.2v quickly drops below 3.7v at which point...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

You guys are right, my mistake. Here’s the 61SHO specs straight from the horses mouth. The status quo with most m61’s is they’re brighter on 6-9v than 4.2v, so that’s what I was confusing with in the case of the SHO.

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, when I said fully charged 3.7v li ion I am referring to a single 18650 and a single 16650 respectively, both of which were fully charged to 4.2v in this comparison. The m61t and m61sho do not give the full output they’re capable of on a single li-ion battery even...

Interesting. I would have expected more candela from the v2’s. I wonder what’s more noticeable, the lower candela or the increased lumens?

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

They were both pointed at the bench. Keep in mind that was with both drop in’s on a fully charged 3.7v li-ion, which doesn’t give them full output. When I get a chance I’m going to do another park walking comparison with them both on full output voltage, which I think will show a larger...

I do agree there are smaller, lighter and higher output options than the MD’s. MD’s are extremely versatile in how they can be configured as a tool or tactical light which is their main attraction in my opinion. The md3, while large, is the most versatile light you can reasonably carry on your...

    The new Malkoff M61SHO

That’s a current product. On the website it’s sold as paired with an mdx head. Be warned though, if you have ideas of putting it a surefire host it doesn’t fit, only fits the malkoff md’s.
