I have a stock 2D maglight, and I want it upgrade it.

It would depend, but probably the NiMH. PCBs on Li-Ion batteries cause them to drain much faster. Your best and safest bet would be Sanyo Eneloops. Lithium-ion batteries are fairly safe if the device was designed for it, but using them outside of an OEM application requires safety precautions...

    Maglite with vented tail cap

If you notice the shape of the gasket on the tailcap on the Mini Maglite and XL-series, escaping gas would be able to get out, but nothing can come in. That's the "vented tailcap." D-cell lights use regular O-rings, so it's probably a misprint.

I have a stock 2D maglight, and I want it upgrade it.

You need more voltage to drive the bulb, around 7.5V. You need to go with LED if you want to use NiMH D's.

    stion mods

I don't think there are any LED upgrades for it, you'll need to purchase a Strion LED (item #74300 is just the light, you can use your old accessories).

    Surefire Lego question

Seeing that the Z61 works on both the E1B and E2DL, I would assume the threads are identical.

    Surefire Lego question

I believe so, the size of the batteries is still the same. ;) The scalloping on the tailcap doesn't look too significant, so if I were you, I would keep it on...$42 for a tailcap isn't cheap.

    Wouldn't getting a Z61 tailcap be easier? http://www.surefire.com/Click-on-Lock-out-Tailcap-Z61

    New Rebel Maglite Switch

Good point, don't know. I was sort of being facetious because I probably won't be getting any new D-size lights since the new C-cell lights are coming out.

    New Rebel Maglite Switch

Interesting, looks like I'll be covered with the T5-T10 set I got at Home Depot a while back. :D

Apparent change in D Mag switch housing

Yup, my 3D is like that too. Looks like it might have a little bit less resistance. ;)

    New MagLED Rebel Mod

I doubt that mod would be worth the trouble...the Luxeon Rebel is a pretty decent LED.

Need help building some lights for my wedding

I think those have a small tab that will keep the button pressed down (which was how they took the pic with them all turned on ;)). Those are ridiculously cheap though...are they even making a profit??? I wonder if you can cancel your order...

Need help building some lights for my wedding

I was able to direct drive white and blue LEDs off of 2AA's, so the 3V from the CR2032 should work fine. Check Ebay. ;) I found a lot of 100 for about $10 shipped from HK or 20 for $4.25 shipped from US. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280460104311...

Need help building some lights for my wedding

I wonder how long a CR2032 will last? That will be the cheapest solution, no resistors or anything. Maybe you can grab one to test? I've removed demo blinking LEDs out of store shelf demo boxes of lighted Christmas goods, and they easily lasted more than a week on two little button cells (1.5V...

Need help building some lights for my wedding

I think using a CR2032 battery as the power source might be a better option. You can solder one lead directly onto the battery and shrink wrap or tape the other end when you're ready to use it. Much smaller too.

Need some advice is DX 10.5mm LED good for mini mag ?

If you aren't expecting much brightness-wise, yes, it will work. I've run white LEDs directly off of 2AA's before, and I think it's not much better, if at all, than the original incan. I agree with the previous post though, you'll be better off with a 3mm or 5mm LED.

    New Rebel Maglite Switch

The 2D is pretty easy...remove the switch and use the 5/64 wrench to remove the screw, and the pill pops right out. No need to push anything...?
