The Official CPF Coffee Thread. All things Coffee... (And related beverages)

Is all Stevia the same? I've tried it in a couple of different places and in one case it tasted good but the other left a metallic aftertaste in my mouth.

the best light source video i have ever ever seen its a much watch

I agree with this guy's presentation 100%. Sodium streetlights just look weird and are pretty bad for nighttime safety. A whiter light is far more beneficial and better suited to our nighttime vision. A long time ago I knew a guy who was on the G-E team that developed their high pressure...

    Road Flare alternatives?

From Page 9 of the document that Poppy referenced - -------------------------------------- The traditional magnesium highway flare has been noted to generate noxious smoke and fumes that can overwhelm the user, while the burning end of the flare can cause serious burns caused by the molten...

    Anyone read paper anymore?

I used to read (paper) all of the time. Technical stuff, books, newspapers. I always looked forward to the sunday paper because it was such a smorgasbord. Now it's so much easier for me to deal with digital formats, especially since (1) it's searchable and (2) I can often read in dark mode...

What is your stuff hit the fan light?

With fiber optics replacing copper trunks these days, long-haul communications are less likely to be affected by a CME than they used to be. Fiber optic circuits are completely immune to EMI/RFI from CMEs. Certainly it could still interfere with power lines, satellite and radio communications...

    Modern Technology and times

Gone are the days when I would see a wadded-up tangle of 8 track or cassette tape sitting on the ground in a gas station parking lot. I could only imagine the choice words that were spoken immediately prior to depositing that tangled mess on the ground. :yellowlaugh:

any of you all into rocks and gems?

I've been collecting fluorescent minerals for a long time. Some of them are just jaw dropping under the right type of UV light. My favorites are the Willemite-Calcite-Fluorite rocks from the Franklin, NJ mines.

Things I've learned the hard way . . .(Part 2)

Apparently it is possible to take in too much dietary fiber at a meal. Still paying the price two days later. :stupid:

Pandemic Mental Health - How YOU doin'?

This is what frustrates me about in-person school without vaccinations or mask mandates. We've already seen this scenario earlier in the year where they tried to reopen schools and BAM - they get shut down immediately again. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over and...

darkest place you have ever been?

Descending into an underground area of a municipal building where power was temporarily unavailable. As we walked down a ramp it got darker and darker until it was so completely pitch black that I started to feel disoriented and mildly ill. I didn't have a light on me at the time because I had...
